Sonny’s surprised to get a call from Paul, who floats the idea about returning to Salem to get to know John better. Clyde arrives to see Will, who reveals he has reconsidered and won’t be writing the article on Clyde after all. A concerned Kate warns Chad not to get caught up in Stefano’s games. Stefano travels to Italy and gets confirmation that Marlena was with Kristen when she died.

The group from Italy returns to Salem with shocking tales of their adventure. Victor and Marlena fill in John about Kristen’s death. Xander is about to kiss Nicole when Victor calls. After a close call, Cole manages to hide the drugs in JJ’s backpack and sneak out of the house without JJ or Paige spotting him.

JJ has found the drugs Cole planted in his backpack and believes Eve put them in there. Marlena is abducted and put on a plane by men claiming to be the ISA. Abigail learns of the whole Italian ordeal from her mom and goes to see Chad.

Marlena finds herself escorted back to Italy. Paul comes by to see Sonny and is surprised to learn Will left town to research his latest article. Rafe warns Hope once more to stay clear of Weston. Hope meets up with Aiden, and she finds he’s also anxious to repair things.

Stefano tells Marlena she must die for what she did to Kristen. Back in Salem, Chad gets Melanie to tell him the whole truth about what happened with Kristen in Italy. Abe and Roman interrupt, having realized Marlena is in trouble.

Stefano is about to have Marlena thrown out the castle window to her death when Chad finally reaches his father and pleads with him not to harm her. Theresa uses the child to keep Brady close. Serena opens Xander's hotel room door to a surprised Nicole. Serena blurts to Daniel that Nicole is at Xander’s hotel room.

JJ lays a trap for Eve by sending her texts from “Cole,” trying to get her to incriminate herself. Nicole manages to sneak a look at Xander’s phone while he’s out of the room. She’s flooded with memories of seeing Serena with the statue. Sonny informs Justin he’s determined to make his marriage work.

Eve is horrified when JJ reveals she’s fallen for his trap. Nicole speaks with Eric, subtly trying to learn more about the elephant statues. Will is livid when he comes home and finds Paul with Arianna. Will accuses him of being just like John. When Will takes a dig at Tori as well, Paul finally punches Will just as Sonny arrives.

Before releasing Marlena, Stefano makes sure she knows he blames her and John's love for destroying Kristen long before she fell to her death. Paul calls John a hypocrite for telling him to give up the love of his life when John did not do the same with Marlena.

Kimberly arrives from Los Angeles and informs Theresa she and Shane are working on resolving their daughter’s legal troubles so she can return home with the baby. Theresa is horrified and claims Brady won’t go for that. Will admits to Rafe that Clyde threatened him, forcing him to write the article.

Victor’s privately alarmed when Daniel reveals he doesn’t trust Xander and doesn’t think he’s turned his life around the way he claims. Daniel sees Parker’s accidentally broken the elephant statue. Eric’s discovered the photo of Serena and Xander in bed, and Serena’s forced to confess her brief affair with Xander back in Africa. Kate comes across Chad prepping for Arianna’s party.
