Rustic Chakula is a lifestyle cooking show that discovers and celebrates the modern-yuppie African lifestyle.
Hosted by the Afrocentric cosmopolitan chef Sizo Henna, the series explores this contemporary lifestyle through prominent African guests, art, music, destinations and cultures.
His travel experiences allow him to bring culinary creations that are rustic in taste and look, which he cooks for a different celebrity each week.
Episode 1: Gail Mabalane
Sizo visits The Factory to taste their freshly homemade croissants that are on site every day. They come in chocolate, almond, cinnamon and other delicious variations. Sizo adds a rustic twist to his Bread n Butter Pudding using croissants as a substitute for bread. His guest Gail Mabalane arrives and dines with him.
Episode 2: Kojo Baffoe
On this episode of Rustic Chakula, Sizo invites his friend Kojo Baffoe for dinner. He cooks mini potato bakes topped with cheese, chutney beef and pepper kebabs on tortilla with cress and a Mini Apple crumble pie with Amarula sauce dessert.
Episode 3: Sonia Mbele
On this episode Sizo prepares a lovely seafood meal for the actress Sonia Mbele. He makes an oven grilled fresh salmon with Dill butter, garden fresh salad BLT Rustic and summer grilled peaches on vanilla syrup with chocolate chip ice cream.
Episode 4: Shashi Naidoo
Chef Sizo visits Akara Gourmet at the Market on Main to buy a marinade for his boozy prawns that he will prepare for his guest Shashi Naidoo.
Episode 5: Lebo Gunguluza
Chef Sizo goes to Meat on Grant butchery and learns about different cuts of meat, how to choose a cut and how to cook different cuts. He learns about which part of the cow they are from and gets help choosing a cut of meat for his dinner with entrepreneur Lebo Gunguluza.
Episode 6: Refilwe Modiselle
Chef Sizo invites Refilwe Modiselle for dinner and prepares a One Pot Wonder Red Wine Lamb Shank for dinner. He visits the Rosebank Sunday Market to get his ingredients of the day.
Episode 7: Taryn Louch
Chef Sizo is preparing Barbeque Chicken Wings with a range of salads tonight for his guest Taryn Louch and he goes shopping at the local market.
Episode 8: Sureshnie Rider
Chef Sizo cooks Baby Spinach n Rocket Salad with Crushed Blue Cheese Sage, Oven Roasted Baby Chicken Creamy Deep Pan Veggie Risotto with Parmesan Shavings and a Summer Cocktail for his guest Sureshnie Rider and visits the Rosebank Sunday Market.
Episode 9: Sisa Ntshona
Chef Sizo visits the Baeside Meat Market and hosts one of his old clients and now friend Sisa Ntshona. On the menu today is a Teriyaki Pork Belly with a Summer Stir Fry.
Episode 10: Odelle de Wet
Chef Sizo goes to the local market to get meringues to use in tonight’'s dessert for his guest, actress Odelle de Wet. He prepares a sumptuous dinner for her, consisting of stuffed Grilled Fish and Wild Berry Pavlova for dessert.
Episode 11: Chris Forrest
Chef Sizo invites comedian Chris Forrester for dinner and prepares a Mushroom Ricotta Pasta, Sweet Sticky Pork Ribs and a mini Trifle in jugs dessert for him.
Episode 12: Jolene Martin
On this episode of Rustic, Sizo goes to a market to get good braai meat as well as Turkish tea which he would use as his key ingredient. He prepares an all braai meal for his guest, actress Jolene Martin. He braais sea salt beef, stuffed chicken and corn. He makes a tea infused salad dressing, homemade ice tea and Turkish tea dessert.
Episode 13: Maleh
Singer Maleh joins Chef Sizo tonight for dinner. He prepares Beer Chicken and Tempura Veggies for their dinner. He pops by local grocer to buy the beer and organic chicken.
