Charly's Cake Angels 2

Filmed in the heart of Cape Town's District 6 this series documents life inside Charly's Bakery.

The new season opens with the tragic news of Charly's death from cancer in May 2012, with Jacqui and daughters Alex, Dani and Roch having to deal with their loss while struggling to meet the increasing demands from new customers and eager fans.

Beyond the unrelenting orders and decadent cake decorations, Season 2 celebrates the sense of community, supporting relationships and random acts of kindness that have helped to turn Charly's Bakery into a surprising tourist hot spot.

Filmed in the wake of the announcement of Cape Town as the 2014 Design Capital of the World, the Angels prove their reputation as one of the City's most treasured creative gems as they deliver on the weird, wonderful and sometimes whacky cake orders that come streaming into the bakery daily.

In the premiere episode of Season 2: it's been six months since Jacqui, Alex, Dani and Roch had cameras swarming around them in Cape Town's favourite bakery and a lot has happened.

Since Charly's death - and with Jacqui needing some much-needed time-out - Alex, Dani and Roch have taken over the reins and most of the operational responsibilities of the business.

With their popularity soaring and the bakery doors bursting at the seams, the girls have hired extra staff to help them cope with the endless cake orders, fan mail and job applications from hopeful bakers and fans desperate to be part of the action.

Each 26-minute episode is themed, from "Roch & Charles' Big Adventure" episode where Roch makes her own five-tiered wedding cake and walks down the aisle with her fiancé Charles; to the spectacular three-tier circus cake, 3D Lego cake and risqué 50 Shades of Grey themed cake in "It's Going to be Spooktacular" Halloween episode.

The heart warming "The Best Feeling in the World" episode sees the Angels celebrating Christmas by collecting 8500 toys for kids at the Red Cross Children's Hospital.

This act of kindness is no easy task, but the Queen of Hearts manages to fill an entire room in the bakery with toys just in time for Christmas.
