The exploits of the Gumede family are going to continue once Ashes to Ashes ends at the beginning of September.
e.tv has confirmed that Gold Diggers will be back for Season 2 from Monday, 5 September, at the same times as Season 1: Mondays to Fridays at 20h00.
The action picks up where things left off in Season 1, with the spotlight firmly on Big Boy (Zuluboy) who steps up as the family's new patriarch after his father Patrick's (Mbongeni Ngema) death last season.
Big Boy's new role leads to him making radical decisions which moves the show to a dramatically different location for the season. The season opens at the Gumede homestead but they don't stay for long because Big Boy forces the family to move to Soweto where they try to build new lives.

Big Boy's primary goal is to keep his family together. This endeavour compelled him to break his brothers out of jail (in Season 1) making the three men fugitives from justice.
Big Boy then forcefully uproots his family from the homestead, a place they have lived all their lives, and supplants them in an urban township setting, away from the detection of police, and with the prospect of a new beginning and a life away from crime.
It is here that he hopes the family will live in relative peace and normalcy. The family is confronted by the challenges of adjusting to the new world, finding work and protecting the family secret but threats to the family's survival soon loom.

The Gumede women in their respective spaces reminisce about happier old times which depress them even more while the boys make a run for it from the cops. Jill gets dumped yet again and Titus expresses his desire for the throne.

Nandipha hates Big Boy for keeping secrets from her and Ruth struggles to accept what he has done to save his brothers. May wonders to Ruth why they are still a family after Patrick's death

Jill hits a brick wall with Kabelo and Thabo in in the interrogation room which makes her even more suspicious that they work for Titus. The family is beside themselves when they think Ruth is about to rat the boys out to the cops.

After Detective Zungu pays the Gumede family a visit, the family is divided. It's clear that Ruth and Olwethu would give the boys up in the name of doing what's right while the rest are determined to keep the boys out of jail.

Episode 5
Big Boy is horrified to find Ruth burning their money. Titus worries about the cellphone found by the cops not knowing that they've been unsuccessful in finding any evidence. Titus finds their weak link.
