Season 1

Twin Peaks is an American supernatural mystery drama television series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost which follows the investigation headed by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper of the brutal murder of a popular teenager and homecoming queen, Laura Palmer.

The series aired in the USA on ABC from 8 April, 1990 to 10 June, 1991. There are 30 episodes in two seasons.

The series originally aired in South Africa on the old SABC service in the 1990s. Broadcast dates for the original run of the show are not available. It later aired on TopTV's Fox Retro channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Twin Peaks premiered on Fox Retro with a double bill on Friday 28 October 2011, at 19h40. Thereafter new episodes broadcast weekly at 20h30, preceded by a repeat of the previous episode at 19h40. There are eight episodes in the first season.

Synopsis

The story begins with the murder of Laura Palmer, a teenaged girl who lived in the quiet town of Twin Peaks, near the US - Canadian borders.

Everyone seems surprised and devastated by the girl's murder, and the town's sheriff welcomes the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who comes to investigate the case.

As Cooper begins his search for Laura's killer, the town's secrets are gradually exposed. This is definitely not an average quiet town, it seems as everyone has something big to hide.

At nights, Agent Cooper sees strange visions of Laura and other mysterious people, visions that tell him that something big is happening here, something far more evil than a single murder case...

This web of mystery ultimately leads Agent Cooper deep into the heart of the surrounding woodland and ultimately his very own soul.
