Synopsis

Angel's Song tells the story of Angel Phillips - a feisty girl from Port Elizabeth who arrives in Johannesburg seeking fame and fortune.

She's enrolled at the National School of Arts for classical piano, but all she wants is a stage, a mike and a rock song to perform... will she cut it?

Angel has to fit in at the National School of Arts, make new friends and cope with her older sister's strict rules and boring beige outlook on life.

The 26-part drama series, produced by Clive Morris Productions, follows Angel on her rocky road to finishing school and starting her life on stage and in the recording studio.

Featuring newcomer C.C. Rudder in the lead role, with Chan Marti (of Isidingo fame) in the role of Angel's uptight older sister, Debbie, who gives Angel a place to crash when she arrives in the City of Gold.

Brandon Auret is the bad apple in the lives of the Phillips sisters. He plays William, a handsome but sinister character with a few secrets and skeletons in his closet.

Gary Lawson portrays the role of Thomas Anderson, Angel's music teacher at NSA and good friend of Debbie's, who is also secretly in love with her.

Debbie's son, Lucien (Michael Constantinides) is a 30-year old man, trapped in a 10-year old boy's body. He is his mother's pillar of strength when she loses the plot.

Angels' Song also features Denton Douglas as Daniel, Angel's friend at NSA who also studies music; James MacEwan as Sean, a record store manager who steals Angel's heart; Felicia Mahambehlala as Gladys, domestic helper of the Phillip sisters and trusted family friend; and Tema Sebopedi as Itumeleng, Angel's best girlfriend.

The series was created by Carmen Sangion and Diliza Moabi, produced by Clive Morris Productions and directed by Clive Morris. It was written by Eduan van Jaarsveldt with Stephen Abbott, Justine Loots, Laura Lee Sharp, Clive Morris and Mbuso Thabethe.

The show was executive produced by Clive Morris and Mbuso Thabethe. The executive producer for M-Net was Helen Smit.
