Season 1

Charlie's Angels is an American action drama television series created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts about three women, the Angels, who graduated from the Los Angeles police academy only to be assigned such duties as handling switchboards and directing traffic and who subsequently quit and are hired to work for the Charles Townsend Agency as private investigators.

The series aired in the USA on ABC from 22 September, 1976 to 24 June, 1981. There are 109 hour-long episodes and a feature length pilot in five seasons.

The series originally aired in South Africa on the old SABC service in the 1970s and 1980s. It later aired on TopTV's (later renamed StarSat) FOX Retro channel (first two seasons only) and on DStv's FOX Crime channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 1 premiered on FOX Retro with the feature length pilot on Tuesday 27 March 2012, at 20h05. Thereafter new episodes broadcast weekly at 20h30, preceded by a repeat of the previous week's episode at 19h40.

Season 1 premiered on FOX Crime with the feature length pilot on Wednesday 15 January 2014, at 16h25. Thereafter new episodes broadcast daily at 16h00, on weekdays. There are 23 episodes in the first season, although only 13 aired on FOX Crime due to "licensing issues".

Synopsis

Once upon a time, Jill, Sabrina & Kelly were police officers whose skills were being wasted in menial duties such as filing and answering phones.

A mysterious millionaire named Charles Townsend took them away from all that by opening his own private investigation agency, and hiring these gorgeous ladies as his operatives with John Bosley acting as their assistant and liaison.

The "Angels" frequently went undercover as models, strippers or cocktail waitresses in their investigations.

When Jill left the agency to pursue a career in auto racing, she was replaced by her sister Kris. Sabrina also departed to start a family, and she was replaced by debutante Tiffany, who was then replaced by street-smart New Yorker Julie.
