Season 4

The Parkers is an American television sitcom created by Ralph Farquhar, Sara V. Finney and Vida Spears as a spin-off Moesha which centres around a mother and daughter who both attend the same college, when the mother decides to return to school.

The series aired in the USA on UPN from 30 August, 1999 to 10 May, 2004. There are 111 half-hour episodes in five seasons.

The series originally aired in South Africa on SABC1 from 15 July, 2002 to 18 April, 2006. It later aired on DStv's M-Net Series (Season 1 only) and Vuzu channels. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 4 originally aired on SABC1 from 16 December, 2004 to 2 June, 2005, on Thursdays at 19h00. New episodes broadcast weekly.

Season 4 premiered on Vuzu on Tuesday 4 March 2014, at 17h30. New episodes broadcast daily, on weekdays. There are 25 episodes in the fourth season.

Synopsis

Countess Vaughn and Mo'Nique star as the mother-daughter family of Nikki and Kim Parker, in this spin-off of the hit UPN sitcom, Moesha. This time around, Kim and Nikki enroll into Santa Monica Junior College in Santa Monica, California.

While Kim was initially bothered by the thought of her mother attending college with her, she eventually came to accept it, and they both grew closer because of the experience.

Then, there was Nikki; she got pregnant with Kim in high school, which forced her to dropout during her senior year to raise her daughter (she went back to receive her high school diploma, as seen in an episode of Moesha), and eventually never went to college - until now.

Nikki is known for her neverending pursuit of SMC professor Stanley Oglevee (Dorien Wilson). Throughout the entire series, Professor Oglevee denied Nikki's request for love; but as we know, that never stopped Nikki.

The show became a huge hit with UPN's viewers, as did its predecessor. In 2004, after five years and 111 episodes, The Parkers ended its series run.

Throughout its five seasons, the series, along with its cast members, were nominated for 11 NAACP Image Awards; it won five, with Mo'Nique winning four as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 for her role as Nikki Parker.

Dorien Wilson won an Image award in 2004 as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2002, Yvette Wilson was nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
