Season 1

24: Redemption is an American television movie written by Howard Gordon and directed by Jon Cassar that bridges the gap between the sixth and seventh seasons of the action series 24.

The narrative in the episode takes place during a presidential inauguration and is split between the fictional African nation Sangala and the United States: in Sangala, Jack Bauer finds himself caught up in a military coup while trying to find a place where he can 'be at peace'; and in the United States, where President-elect Allison Taylor is being sworn in to office.

The movie takes place in real-time, covering two hours, 15h00 to 17h00, GMT. It originally aired in the USA on FOX on 23 November, 2008 and is 89 minutes long.

24: Redemption aired in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Action channel on Wednesday 3 June 2009, at 19h00. It is followed the next week by the Season 7 premiere of 24, on 10 June.

Synopsis

The wait is finally over as the highly anticipated television event shot on location in South Africa and in Los Angeles finds Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) working at a school in Africa where he is called upon to stop a ruthless warlord from drafting innocent children into his murderous militia.

At home, it's inauguration day for President-elect Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) while malevolent mastermind Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight) fans the flames of the international crisis.

Jack soon finds himself in the midst of a bloody uprising in the fictitious African nation of Sangala where a ruthless dictator is drafting innocent children to serve as soldiers in his army.

As the vicious Colonel Dubaku (Hakeem Kae-Kazim) descends on an orphanage in search of recruits, Jack enters into a one-man crusade at the behest of his friend Carl Benton (Robert Carlyle) to rescue the children and get them to safety.

Setting the stage and raising the stakes for the upcoming season, Jack faces decisions and sacrifices that will change his life forever in the heart-pounding 24: Redemption.
