Sinawe72 is a South African reality makeover television series produced by TBWA and Gray White Productions in which four families go head-to-head for 72 continous hours to renovate their homes, getting their hands dirty, strategising, plastering, drilling and battling exhaustion in an attempt to win the R250,000 grand prize.
The series premiered on e.tv on Wednesday 5 March 2014, at 17h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 half-hour episodes in the series.
Synopsis
There's no place like home, yet many South Africans are not in a position to revamp their houses or build their own homes. The home-makeover reality series Sinawe72 helps make the dream of four families come true by giving them a chance to revamp their homes.
Presented by renowned actor, presenter and filmmaker, Thapelo Mokoena, the show features four families from different parts of the country renovating their homes non-stop over a 72-hour period in their bid for the grand prize of R250,000 worth of building materials and products from Build It.
Each team consists of four active members and one mentor/coach, known as the Build It Champion. The Champion is the overall leader of the team and, although not allowed to get physically involved with the work, he is there to motivate and guide the team.
He is also fully responsible for the teams' building plan. Each week on the show, the teams are also given an additional construction related challenge.
Produced by Gray White Productions, the series runs over 13 episodes. Once the 72 hours of non-stop construction is over, the viewers' vote for their favourite team and in doing so, decide on the overall winner.
The announcement of the winner is made at the end of the series.
Sinawe72 was produced and directed by Matthew Gray, with additional direction by John Barker and LeRoux Botha. The scriptwriter was Lindsay Gray and the executive producer for e.tv was Luxury Msiza.

Family from Kimberley
Clara, owner of the house, recently lost her husband. Her family and friends all pull together to help her finish her house and to win.
Family from KwaNobuhle
The family from KwaNobuhle is desperate to make their house wheelchair friendly. The family's brother and friends pull together to improve their living conditions and to create easy access paths and ramps to the house.
Family from Bela Bela
Salimina, the owner of the house has been forced to live in the unfinished construction shell of her house. She has no funds to finish, as all her earnings are going towards her children's education. Once the house is complete she will be able to enjoy proper electricity and a finished home.
Family from ESikhawini
Zine, the owner of the house, needs to improve her living conditions, so that her father can return to her home. He is very ill and is not able to stay in the house because it affects his health. He had to move back to the farm but once the house is complete, he will be able to return back so that she can look after him.
