Description

Spy is a British television sitcom created and written by Simeon Goulden and produced by Hat Trick Productions about a 30-something man at a crossroads in his life who applies for a job as a civil servant doing data entry, but discovers during the job interview that he has been offered a job as a trainee spy for MI5.

The series aired in the UK on Sky1 from 14 October, 2011 to 26 December, 2012. There are 16 half-hour episodes and one hour-long special in two seasons.

Spy premiered in South Africa on DStv's BBC Entertainment channel on Tuesday 17 July 2012, at 20h00. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 premiered on BBC Entertainment on Tuesday 9 July 2013, at 22h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 11 episodes in the second and final season.

Season 1

A razor-sharp comedy created and written by Simeon Goulden (Secret Diary of a Call Girl), that celebrates that special bond between a father and son, and puts a twist on the traditional family comedy.

Thirty-something Tim (Darren Boyd) has reached a crossroads. Not only is he stuck in a dead-end job at Computer Universe, but he's locked in a custody battle with his ex-wife Judith (Dolly Wells) over son Marcus (Jude Wright), a precocious nine-year-old who is as happy spending time with his dad as a PETA member would be modelling fur coats.

Tim's world is shaken, and most definitely stirred, however, when he's accidentally recruited as a trainee spy for MI5, going from zero to hero.

Well, sort of...

Season 2

The first season saw Tim accidentally recruited into MI5, and followed his attempts to balance his secret life as a trainee agent with his chaotic domestic life.

Under the watchful eye of The Examiner (Robert Lindsay), Tim surprised himself by successfully qualifying as a fully-fledged secret agent, although without winning the heart of his colleague Caitlin (Rebekah Staton).

The new season follows Tim as a newly qualified agent as he continues to keep his secret from those closest to him and attempts to win the love of his son.

Spy is created and written by Simeon Goulden. It is a Hat Trick production for Sky 1 HD and is produced by Simeon Goulden and directed by Ben Taylor.
