About the Show

Suburban Shootout is a British satirical black comedy television series created by Roger Beckett and Gary James Martin which chronicles two power hungry housewives locked in a vicious battle, each with their own team of women who are highly armed and combat-ready.

The series originally aired in the UK on Five from 27 April, 2006 to 20 September, 2007. There are eight 30-minute episodes in the first season and three 65-minute episodes in the second season.

The first season of Suburban Shootout originally aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Prime (now BBC Entertainment) channel from 4 December, 2007 to 22 January, 2008, on Tuesdays at 21h00.

Season 2 premiered on BBC Entertainment on Wednesday 15 October 2008, at 20h00. Episodes will be split into two, making six half-hour episodes in the second season (as opposed to three hour-long episodes).

Synopsis

In Little Stempington, the women don't kill time - they kill each other, with anything from pistols to potato peelers, because this unremarkable town has secretly become more like the hoods of east LA than an average English suburb.

Beneath the facade of Women's Institute fundraisers, mid-morning yoga classes and the twice daily school run lies a secret super-sexed, super-violent world where industrial strength viagra is shaved into husbands' suppers with fresh parmesan, and high doses of HRT are smuggled in from the continent.

Into this rural battlefield walk innocent Joyce Hazeldine and her policeman husband Jeremy, itching to find a stress-free life away from the high crime rate of the big city.

As wife of the new local superintendent, Joyce soon becomes an unwilling pawn in the epic power struggle between two rival gangs, and has to learn to swim and shoot or sink and die.

These women mean business and if this involves 'terminating' a few local residents to get their next botox fix then so be it.

Think Desperate Housewives meets Kill Bill - only without the suntans or the samurais.
