Law, Love & Betrayal is a South African legal drama television series about a tough township lawyer who forces her way into a slick, family-owned firm in Sandton, where she finds that everyone has secrets, just like her.
Young and tough township lawyer Gugu Mabaso (Dineo Rasedile) finds her way into Gumede & Associates in Sandton.
There, she discovers that beneath its polished exterior, the firm is a twisted maze of family secrets, lies, ruthless ambition and betrayal.
As she navigates the environment, Gugu realises that like her, everyone has a hidden darkness that threatens to shatter trust within the firm.
Also starring are Nimrod Nkosi as Gatsha and Pearl Modiadie as Ayanda Gumede-Williams, Gatsha's ambitious daughter.
Other cast members include Anelisa Phewa as James Makaula and Siyabonga Sepotokele as Thabo.
In the series premiere, "Status Quo": Ambitious attorney Gugu pursues a wealthy divorcee as a client by promising to get her more money from her stingy ex-husband, who is represented by his brilliant yet snobbish daughter Ayanda Gumede through their firm Gumede and Associates.
Law, Love & Betrayal was created by executive producer Thandi Ramathesele and produced by Izwi Multimedia.
The series was directed by Nthabiseng Tau, Nthabiseng Mokoena and Christo Davids, who is also the series producer.
The head writer is Dorette Nel with a writing team including Thandi Ramathesele, Frances Maposa, Lwazi Mvusi, Alex Xolo, Oratile Mogale, Chisanga Kabinga and Christo Davids.
Music is by Mpumi Dhlamini, with additional music by Modia Shole.
