About the Show

Strike Back (known as Strike Back: Project Dawn in the UK) is a British-American action television series created as a spin-off of the original UK series Strike Back which follows the actions of Section 20, a secret branch of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), particularly two of its officers, Michael Stonebridge and former American Delta Force operative Damian Scott.

The series premiered in the USA on Cinemax on 12 August, 2011.

Strike Back premiered in South Africa on M-Net (simulcast in HD) on Friday 15 June 2012, at 21h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 3 premiered on M-Net on Friday 30 August 2013, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 10 episodes in the third season.

Synopsis

A high-octane, globe-spanning thriller with storylines ripped from today's headlines, Strike Back, Cinemax's first scripted prime-time original drama series, focuses on two members of a top-secret intelligence agency known as Section 20: Michael Stonebridge, a British sergeant on the elite counter-terrorism team, and Damien Scott, a former U.S. Delta Force operative who was discharged on the eve of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Stonebridge, Scott and the rest of Section 20 criss-cross the globe on the trail of a deadly international terrorist named Latif, who is planning a major attack involving a cache of WMD that could have global repercussions.

The timely, fast-paced series mixes suspense, action and drama, spanning the globe from India to South Africa, from England to Chechnya. It was shot on location in South Africa and Hungary.

In the first season: when a resourceful international terrorist group plots an attack, a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative joins forces with a stealth British military unit to stop them.

In the second season: Stonebridge has the safe "desk job" he promised his wife, actually training recruits for Section 20, but she had a miscarriage and the work frustrates him, especially now veteran mate Craig Hanson's kid brother Jake isn't up to his legacy.

Scott accepted the apparently boring security for the collecting of toppled Libyan president Kadhafi's former confident Armali in Kenya, who brings a top-secret case to British consular officials Patrick Burton, about to be retired involuntarily despite his devotion to eastern Africa, and junior attaché Rachel Dalton.

By surprise, they are captured by Somalian war lord Waabti, presumably for ransom. Damien got away first, but is caught during his rescue attempt.

SAS general Bennet won't sanction a second rescue, and is looking for a pretext to question Section 20's very existence.

In Strike Back's third season, stealth counterterrorism unit Section 20 pursues a deadly terrorist network from Colombia to Lebanon to Eastern Europe, uncovering deadly plots that threaten the West.

The team tracks the elusive terrorist al-Zuhari and his well-financed drug cartel partners as they target European and American interests, both at home and abroad, including Section 20 itself.

The Section 20 team is often forced to resort to extraordinary measures to protect the greater good, making some members question their future with the unit.

Strike Back is a CINEMAX Presentation in association with British Sky Broadcasting Limited; a Left Bank Pictures Production; executive producer, Andy Harries; series producer, Michael Casey; co-executive producers, Michael J. Bassett, James Dormer and Tim Vaughan; producers, Selwyn Roberts and Chris Thompson; co-producer, Bill Shepard.
