Bio

Julie White is an American actress best known for her starring role as Nadine Swoboda on the television sitcom Grace Under Fire, from 1993-1997.

She currently has a starring role as Anne, a tough-as-nails lawyer and recent widow in Ryan's (Matthew Perry) support group, in the television sitcom Go On, since 2012.

On the big screen, she co-starred in Steven Spielberg's Office Seekers, opposite Daniel Day Lewis and Sally Field. She has been a staple in the indie film market in films such as Hello I Must Be Going, Breaking Upwards, Language of a Broken Heart, Inside Out, My Idiot Brother and Killing Karma.

She has also been featured in all three Transformers films, Michael Clayton opposite George Clooney, The Astronaut Farmer starring Billy Bob Thorton, The Nanny Diaries with Laura Linney, Slap Her... She's French, What Women Want with Mel Gibson, and Say It Isn't So.

Her television credits include guest-starring roles on Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Six Feet Under and JAG. White also starred as a series regular in Grace Under Fire and has served several times as a guest judge on the reality TV series Iron Chef America.

A Broadway and off-Broadway veteran, White has starred in The Understudy, Bad Dates, Fiction, 12th Night and From Up Here. In 2007, she won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for her role in The Little Dog Laughed.

She also appeared on Broadway in The Heidi Chronicles, and at the Mark Taper Forum in Expecting Isabel and Money and Friends.

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, White was late to her high school sophomore English class so often that she accumulated two-and-a-half hours of detention. When she arrived at detention, she discovered that her English teacher was holding auditions for the school's production of Guys and Dolls.

He told her that she could avoid sitting through detention if she would audition for the play. White took a chance and auditioned, winning the role of Miss Adelaide. She found her calling and has been acting ever since.

White lives in the New York area with her Pomeranian, Lulu. She enjoys playing golf and spending time on her family's ranch in Texas. She is active in Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and she supports multiple environmental causes.
