Bio

Peter Stormare is a Swedish actor and director best known for his roles as eccentric, often European, villains in films and TV shows.

He is best known to television audiences for his role as John Abruzzi on the action drama series Prison Break.

Born in Arbra, Sweden, Stormare began his acting career at the Royal National Theatre of Sweden where performed for eleven years.

In 1990 he took over the directorship of Tokyo's Globe Theatre where he directed numerous Shakespearean plays.

During this time he also appeared in various foreign language feature films and made-for-TV movies including Mälarpirater (1987) aka Pirates of the Lake and Riflessi in un cielo scuro (1991) aka Reflections in a Dark Sky.

In 1990 he was cast as a neurochemist in the US film Awakenings and in 1993 he relocated to New York, working in both America and Sweden.

In 1998 he made his US TV debut in an episode of Seinfeld where he played Slippery Pete and went on to guest roles in the television series Joey and Watching Ellie.

In 2003 he played Ernst Röhm in the Canadian made-for-TV movie Hitler: The Rise of Evil and in 2005 he was cast as John Abruzzi in Prison Break.
