Jim Varney (June 15, 1949 – February 10, 2000) was an American actor, voice artist and comedian best known for his role as Ernest P. Worrell, who was used in numerous television commercial campaigns and "Ernest" movies.

Varney was also known for his slapstick style and his portrayal of "redneck" stereotypes in a friendly, approachable way.

Jim Varney died on 10 February, 2000, from lung cancer.
