Gcinile Nkosi is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Zinzile Ngema in the e.tv soapie Scandal!.

Hailing from Umlazi in Kwazulu-Natal, she matriculated from Zwelibanzi High School in 1990.

She studied drama at the Durban University of Technology from 1995-1996, and furthered her tertiary education in 2009 by studying at Movietech Film & Television Production College.

Having performed song, dance and theatre in Durban for a number of years, Gcina landed her first television acting role when she was cast as Zinzile, the nanny of Shakira's (Dawn Matthews) baby, in the e.tv soapie Scandal!.

On the show, in 2012, her character was upgraded to starring cast when she transitioned into the matriarch of the new Ngema family, who were introduced to the show through her character.

She was nominated for a SAFTA Award in the category Best Supporting Actress - TV Soap at the 16th annual awards, in 2022.

Gcinile continued to the play the role of Zinzile until 2022, when her character was written out of the show.

Also in 2022, she starred as Vero, Amanda's (Refilwe Madumo) accomplice who helps her escape from prison, in the second season of the SABC1 drama series Side Dish.

The season premiered on the channel on 3 April, 2022.

Three months later she began starring in the third season of the Mzansi Magic anthology drama series eHostela as KaMabizela, a widow out for vengeance who takes on ruthless gangster Ngwadi (Siyabonga Thwala), the man who betrayed and murdered her beloved husband, Mdletshe (Mpumelelo Bhulose).

The season premiered on 3 July, 2022.

Another starring role immediately followed when she was cast as Thandiwe Khumalo in the SABC1 drama series The Executives, which premiered on 7 August, 2022.

Gcina's strong run of roles continued early in 2023 when she began playing the recurring role of Ma'Khumalo, the strong-willed wife of Nkosi Cele (Muzi Mthabela), on the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy.

Her first appearance in the role was on 4 January, 2023.

A few months later Gcinile was cast in yet another starring role, this time as MaNzimande in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Umkhokha: The Curse.

The series is a prequel to the 13-part drama series Umkhokha, which aired on Mzansi Magic in late 2021,in which the role of MaNzimande was played by Sthandiwe Kgoroge.

Umkhokha: The Curse premiered on Mzansi Magic on 6 March, 2023.
