The youngest of four daughters, Anele was born in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal. After matriculating, she obtained a Media Studies diploma through Boston Media House.

Her next acting role was a cameo in an episode of another Mzansi Magic drama - Saints and Sinners - which aired on 19 March, 2017 (Season 3, Episode 11).

In 2020, Anele was announced as the new host of the SABC1 reality competition series One Mic, replacing Bontle Modiselle, who hosted the show in Season 2.

In 2025 she appears in her own SABC1 reality show Anele Zondo - The Glow about her career in the entertainment industry and her personal life after the birth of her daughter. It premiered on Saturday 5 April at 20h00.
