Smash Afrika (real name Afrika Mdutyulwa) is a South African radio and television presenter best known to TV viewers for co-hosting the Mzansi Magic music show Massive Music.
Having risen through the ranks of radio DJs, beginning with campus radio, he made his name at YFM in 2013, beginning with co-hosting En Route 6 with Tholi B. In 2015 he hosted his own show, Point of Order, which was on weekdays from 03h00 to 06h00.
Other shows he has worked on at Yfm include The Afternoon Drive with Tholi B and Smash & Grab, a weekday breakfast show. He also hosted YFM's first reality show, Ground Zero.
In 2016 Smash made a guest appearance as a DJ in an episode of the e.tv drama series Hustle and the following year landed his biggest television gig to date, co-hosting (with Lalla Hirayama) the Mzansi Magic Friday night music show Massive Music, which features artist interviews, studio performances and a weekly music chart.
In 2018 he was the Blue Room Host at the South African Music Awards and he played a presenter in the 2022/2023 fifth season of 1Magic Magic telenovela The River.
In 2023 he appeared in his first starring role on the Netflix comedy Miseducation, as Rizzla, and in 2024 he played Blaza on the Showmax action drama Empini.
Later that year he was announced as the host of the fifth season of Big Brother Mzansi, airing in 2025.
