Gilles Marini is a French actor best known for his role as Dante in the 2008 feature film Sex and the City: The Movie, in which he did a full frontal nude scene.
He currently stars as Luc Laurent, the French boyfriend to Rachel Griffiths' Sarah Walker, on the television drama series Brothers & Sisters, since 2009.
Marini exploded onto the scene as Dante, the Casanova living in the beach house next door to Kim Cattrall's Samantha in the Sex and the City movie, a role which has earned him international recognition.
Born and raised in France, Marini joined the French army and was stationed in Paris, where he served as a fireman for the famous Brigade des Sapeurs Pompiers de Paris.
After fulfilling his military duties, he decided to come to the United States to learn English while working as a model.
In 2007 Marini took centre stage on the dance floor with pro dance partner Cheryl Burke in the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
He has appeared in such other series as Ugly Betty, Dirty Sexy Money and Criminal Minds, and as Vanessa Redgrave's husband on FX's Nip/Tuck. He also has a starring role on the ABC Family teen drama series Switched at Birth.
Marini is a partner in a local southern California restaurant, La Vida.
He currently resides in California with his wife, Carole, son Georges and daughter Juliana.
