19th SAFTA Awards

Contenders for the 19th South African Film and Television Awards were announced on 17 February with nominees chosen from 434 eligible applicants.

Because of a delay (the awards were not held last year), the eligibility dates were extended from a year to 18 months. Shows and films that aired from 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2025 could enter.

The theme this year is "One Story. One Industry. One Future."

Anele Mdoda and Sipho 'Alphi' Mkhwanazi host the main show, with Kat Sinivasan and Pamela Mtanga conducting Gold Carpet interviews and guiding you through behind-the-scenes moments.

The Craft Awards (which streamed last night) were presented by Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp and Moshe Ndiki.

Tshedza Pictures have the most nominations with a total of 24, followed by Quizzical Pictures who have 22.

About Face

TLC's new medical series spotlights a team of elite Los Angeles-based plastic surgeons as they take on some of the most complex and medically-challenging facial reconstruction cases.

Drs. Roostaeian, Rovelo and Panossian work at the cutting edge of reconstructive surgery, transforming the lives of patients suffering from severe facial deformities, traumatic injuries and rare conditions.

These include massive tumors, extensive birthmarks and disfiguring accidents.

About Face captures the emotional and physical journeys of those who've been overlooked, misdiagnosed, or told nothing could be done.

It's not just about changing appearances - it's about restoring dignity, hope and humanity.

In the series premiere, "Tumorous Maximous": When faced with treating a man whose cheek is about to pop due to a 4lb tumor, Dr. Panossian worries it could become a deadly situation.

Also, a woman whose lower lip won't stop growing turns to Dr. Rovelo for help.
