Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing
Channel: BBC Earth (DStv 184)
TX Time: 18h00
Genre: Reality, Comedy
Two friends, beautiful places and a good natter.
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse go on a life-affirming, funny journey, sharing their changed outlooks and trying to land a catch.
Lifelong friends and comedic royalty Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer have more in common than just their love of laughter - on a more serious note, they have both suffered complex heart disease.
Paul is an experienced fisherman, Bob a complete novice.
Paul thought a tour of the country's finest fishing spots might help Bob's recovery, and along the way maybe they would learn something about each other.
In this funny and poignant six-part series, we eavesdrop on their expedition as they reconnect with each other and share their personal experiences of life, while testing the parameters of true friendship.
They also fish, and talk nonsense. A lot.
On soggy riverbanks, they candidly discuss everything from show business to solitude, relationships and romance, while trying to catch some of the most significant species of fish in the country.
This is as much an insight into the hearts and minds of two of the UK's best-loved comics as it is about capturing the extreme exhilaration and occasional monotony of one of the most popular pastimes in the UK.
While in Norfolk fishing for tench, Bob tries to impress Paul with his childhood fishing rod - and fails.
They share nostalgia for their younger years and reveal how they recently came face to face with their own mortality.
After a brief respite in a local brewery, they reluctantly camp down in yurts before fishing again the next day where the elusive tench seems to evade them until the very last minute.
The Neighborhood 7
Channel: M-Net (DStv 101)
TX Time: 18h00
Genre: Comedy
The Neighborhood stars Cedric the Entertainer in a comedy about what happens when the friendliest guy in the Midwest moves his family to a neighbourhood in Los Angeles where not everyone looks like him or appreciates his extreme neighbourliness.
Dave Johnson is a good-natured, professional conflict negotiator.
When his wife, Gemma, gets a job as a school principal in L.A., they move from Michigan with their young son, Grover, unfazed that their new dream home is located in a community quite different from their small town.
Their opinionated next-door neighbour, Calvin Butler, is wary of the newcomers, certain that the Johnsons will disrupt the culture on the block.
However, Calvin's gracious wife, Tina, rolls out the welcome wagon; their chipper younger son, Marty, thinks the Johnsons could be good for the community; and their older son, Malcolm, finds Dave may finally be someone who understands him.
Dave realises that fitting into their new community is more complex than he expected, but if he can find a way to connect with Calvin, they have an excellent chance of making their new neighborhood their home.
In the Season 7 premiere, "Welcome to the Neighborhood, Daphne": Marty and Courtney bring baby Daphne home from the hospital and Calvin is surprised to learn that Marty plans to take the paternity leave Dave offered in the employee handbook for the Fuse Box.
Also, Tina will do anything to earn Daphne's love.
In the second episode of the weekly double bill, "Welcome to the Big Sleep": As Marty and Courtney struggle to get their newborn to sleep, the entire Butler family suffers along with them.
While Calvin prefers to let the new parents figure it out, Tina insists on jumping in to help with Baby Daphne any way she can.
When searching for their old baby swing, Dave finds an old list he made of cool things to do before age 40, which sends him spiraling as he realises he hasn't accomplished any of them.
