Miss-ed South Africa!

Okay, firstly I'd like to start this off by saying shout out to Ms Chidimma for making a girl take interest in Miss South Africa.

I stopped watching the pageant decades ago (it is not only that, I just don't like competition shows unless it is reality TV like Love Island or something even then I only watch the highlights on YouTube - who else feels like this?). So much drama over a girl who is just a girl.

Now from the backstory our good sis gave, she said she was born in South Africa in 2001, in Soweto (apparently she was born in Bara Hospital, Bara is always in the middle of mess omg, it is like a problem child who doesn't want to learn the lessons hahaha).

She was born to a Nigerian Father and a Mozambican Mother. She entered Miss South Africa to fulfill her lifelong dream... (I'm playing about the lifelong dream thing unless that is what she said ever in life).

Now let's get into the juice because this set Twitter on fire. The girl's daddy went on an interview and said the wrong dates.

According to Mr Dad, he had kids in 2010 after he got citizenship. Now hear me out, there is a great chance that he travelled through time because if you switch the last two digits of 2010 what do you get? 2001 (exactly).

What made things worse is that he kept mentioning the World Cup, like the deniability lost (this is why people need PR training, or to not do interviews, omg sometimes just mind ya bidness plz).

This sparked a social media uproar, people were like "How can she be 23 if they only had kids after 2010?" (I am part of people because honestly now, don't play in our faces like this hunny). "She doesn't deserve to compete if she is not South African." Now I will say that the whole age thing was funny but the rest was too weird for my liking.

Now let us not forget we have a history of xenophobia in our country and yes I know the allegations sometimes match the country but this is a 23-year-old girl (she shouldn't be punished for the actions of her parents).

With that being said this whole debacle sparked an investigation into her residency status (Gabriel you've gone too far and you should hang your head in shame... GAY-BRI-ELLLLLLL).

Chile tell me why did we find out they were fraudulent activities concerning the attaining of her residency status which was done by her mom? (let me add allegedly, chile I don't want to find myself in court over a blog hahahaha).

Now this is where I have beef with Miss South Africa (who, by the way, isn't even a South African Directed Concept).

Miss South Africa should've done background checks on their contestants. Also, they should've come out to reassure the public that they were dealing with the matter, they should've also been the ones to announce her withdrawal alongside her and give her a good send-off.

Also, why was her father interviewed in the first place? This was unnecessary if you ask me. Chidimma withdrew from the competition to save the face of the competition but so much damage was already done.

So she withdrew and the competition went forward. She was then invited by Nigeria to join their pageant and would join as a finalist (did this not make her fellowmen big mad I tell you hahahaha like what do yall want from this one person hahaha).

I am still following the Curious Case of Chidi so I will update y'all on how that is going. My 2 cents in all of this is firstly South Africa belongs to all who live in it, I mean it is in our constitution.

People did think pieces about this and made vids but it wasn't that serious, she wouldn't have won anyway (not saying the games are rigged but the competition was tight, I mean y'all know exactly what I mean hahahaha).

Now I know I will never watch the pageant again in life however Miss South Africa needs to do better in their vetting process. Why are they not learning from the previous contestants who have been blasted on Bonanags Internet? There is an incident almost every year now and that does not reflect well on the competition. Do better!

Henneyway the lesson here is to stay away from crime guys because you might think you are safe then boom, your child enters a competition now suddenly everybody knows that y'all are kinda an illegal immigrants.

And Home Affairs (hahahaha this is the Mabena of our lives, like this government department stays letting us down hahaha like no be stopped in the name). None of this would've happened if they left that girl's Daddy alone.
