This is Going to Hurt

Welcome to the weird world of an NHS labour ward.

The series is based on Adam Kay's memoir of the same name, which has sold over 2.5-million copies to date and has been translated into 37 languages.

The series, which is created, written and executive produced by Kay himself, rejoices in the laugh-out-loud highs, while pulling no punches in its depiction of the gut-wrenching lows of life on a gynaecology and obstetrics ward.

This Is Going To Hurt remains a stark reminder of the vital role played by the NHS.

Kay's diaries, scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless nights and missed weekends, tell the unvarnished truth of life as a doctor working in obstetrics and gynaecology.

The series follows Adam (Ben Whishaw), a doctor who we find wending his way through the ranks of hospital hierarchy, junior enough to suffer the crippling hours, but senior enough to face a constant barrage of terrifying responsibilities.

Adam is clinging to his personal life as he is increasingly overwhelmed by stresses at work: the 97-hour weeks, the life-and-death decisions, and all the while knowing the hospital parking meter is earning more than him.

Whishaw is joined by newcomer Ambika Mod as Shruti, a young junior doctor just starting in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Naturally bright, diligent and caring, she has everything it takes to be a great doctor, but the job still finds ways to throw her into chaos and doubt.

Other characters include Tracy, a confident, sharp-witted senior midwife; and Mr Lockhart, a consultant and Adam's domineering boss.

Julian is Adam's colleague and professional rival and Miss Houghton is a formidable and forthright consultant who spots potential in Shruti.

Dame Harriet Walter plays Veronique, Adam's mother.

Harry is Adam's boyfriend and his best friend is Greg - his two closest relationships and the ones which feel the brunt of the pressures he faces at work.

In the series premiere: Adam is juggling his personal life with a hectic job on the labour ward, where he is faced with a racist mother-to-be and an irritating frequent flyer.

He meets Shruti, an inexperienced SHO who is struggling to find her feet in Obs & Gynae.

He eventually makes it to his best friend's stag do, but is immediately called back to the hospital to cover a staff shortage, and forced to abandon his boyfriend, Harry.

On arriving back at work, Adam discovers that he has made a terrible mistake.

Follow the US Customs and Border Protection team as they sniff out drugs using the nation's largest team of K-9s, make large-scale seizures of medication without prescription, uncover cocaine in the bumper of a car and stop a woman smuggling underaged puppies from Brazil.

In the Season 3 premiere, "Six Million Dollar Seizure": HSI uncovers an internal conspiracy of airline employees at JFK, which leads to the disruption of an international drug trafficking operation.

Outback Opal Hunters 5

From the extreme to the extraordinary, Australia's harsh and remote outback is a brutal and ever-changing beast, particularly in the battle for its most precious gemstone – opal.

The blood, sweat and tears don't always pay off, but in the massive fifth season of Outback Opal Hunters, all that is about to change.

The series follows six opal-hungry teams across three states on their quest to find a fortune.

It's a lucky start to the season for some when one team finds $120,000 worth of opal in a day, while another uncovers the most valuable single piece of opal in the history of the series.

In outback NSW, the worst storm in 20 years devastates the Bushmen's and Chris Cheal's mine, while in Coober Pedy a new team - the Blacklighters - need opal to re-establish.
