Zizipho Buti and Karabo Maseko promoted to starring cast on Generations: The Legacy

Season 7 of Generations: The Legacy premieres in exactly a week (on 23 November) and two of the series' new (ish) actors have been turbo-charged for it.

Zizipho Buti and Karabo Maseko have been promoted to starring cast as their characters of Tracy and Luyolo step up as lead characters.

Tracy, a feisty former sex worker, has been in the action since February this year and Dr Luyolo arrived in May, with Rasta in his attitude and a stethoscope round his neck.

Word from the show's head writer Collin Oliphant is that both are going to be involved in big storylines, with a focus on the realities they face as young characters.

This is the second starring role for both actors. Zizipho's first screen credit was for her lead role as Pinkie on Mzansi Magic's 2018 drama series Nkululeko and Karabo played one of the four "gifted" students on e.tv's supernatural series Isipho.

Before that he cut his teeth on multiple TV presenting gigs including Craz-e and Shiz Niz.

On Gen, his character of Luyolo works with Sphe (Noxolo Monama) and is described as unconventional, open minded and charming.

As for what else to expect from the new season... this is what we know so far:

Separated Sphe and Mazwi (Musa Ngema) will make bold moves to reinvent themselves.

Loser Detective Pele (Andile Nebulane) hits a winning a streak by taking down more than one person.

Lucy (Manaka Ranaka) is shaken to the core when someone from her past returns and endangers her family. Her name: Luthando, played by Khutjo Green.

The characters of Refilwe (Jo-anne Reyneke), Ben (Khulu Skenjana) and Fikile (Refilwe Madumo) are definitely in the season.

The role of Zitha, played by Zoe Mthiyane, won't be recast.

Despite all the fuss about Rapulana Seiphemo leaving Gen to worship The Queen, he'll still be seen in the new season.

Here's a snap of the cast taken for the new season... see who's in it and spill your insights below - tap the pic to get the LARGE version so you can see each person up close:
