Finding out the truth of what's happening with Isidingo has been much worse than pulling teeth!

After a week of speculation, the SABC has eventually managed to get their act together to make a short, unemotive statement on what's happening with it and the news isn't good for Isidingo fans unfortunately...

This is it:

SABC 3 BIDS FAREWELL TO ISIDINGO

Johannesburg- Friday, 29 November 2019 - The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to officially announce that SABC 3’s ISIDINGO will be airing its final episode on Thursday, 12 March 2020.

After 21 years of on-screen deceit, lust, conniving, murder and bliss of Horizon Deep’s City of Gold. The great South African storyline comes to an end. In line with the channel’s future strategic direction, ISIDINGO has been one of the programmes that will not be recommissioned for the new fiscal from April 2020.

“The decision to decommission Isidingo was informed by a number of factors which includes poor audience ratings during the time slot, decline in revenue and poor return on investment.

The organisation was faced with no option but to review the performance of all programmes on the channel that are not performing and to ensure that the channel’s content is competitive and commercially viable.” said Mr. David Makubyane, SABC Acting Group Executive: Television.

SABC 3, through its strategic plans will continue to commission and intensify its investment in local productions and content which will allow creatives to come up with new, gripping and commercially viable content for the channel.

The channel will through its content division welcome any proposals that respond to these plans and channel direction. Viewers can tune into the finale episode of ISIDINGO which will air on Thursday, 12 March 2020 at 19h00 on SABC 3.

Pffff, the whole situation's so depressing... the state that the SABC's gotten to where a long-time show like this can't even get a flashy send-off.

I understand that shows can't go on forever but this really feels like it's plunging with the Titanic.

Oh Lincoln... I will miss you so. Also the miners, Morongoa, the Lategans, Nina and Obakeng. Even Sechaba but not his boring girlfriend. Also, I will never forgive the producers for not honouring Barker Haynes with a send off befitting his legacy.

Awe maaaa. Did it have to end? They could have put it on hold and let the cast go and get some air while the writing team goes on vacation to gather new and riveting stories....Bakithi ...ngempela ngempela they are shutting it down...Haibo. I'll miss Girraffe , Mandebvu , Wends , Rongwaz , Sistera Nina , Bra Lincs , Oby. Down memory lane ; Prada , Samantha , Cheryl , Ben ,Nikiwe , Priya ,Rajesh , Jaden , Pastor Gabs... I just dont understand why the viewership never increasd

This is BS. They didn't even give it a chance to see how it'll do on a channel like SABC 2 or even 1. I hope SABC 3 flops!

Isidingo has given us some of the best storylines to ever come out of the TVSA industry. Ashley Calley remains my favourite of all time on the show even after a decade since we lost her to a horrific car crash.

Lee Haines and Rajesh Kumar made magic on TV and made us believe in true love and that love does conquer everything.

Isidingo will be sorely missed.

...So the situation was so Deep so much so that Horizon Deep could not be saved...
