Gen fans... you'll be thrilled by this news... the latest episodes of Generations: The Legacy are back on track and Season 29 premieres tonight (Monday, 25 November 2019), as originally planned.

Yes-yes! Series producer Mfundi Vundla has confirmed to TVSA that the SABC and his Morula Pictures have reached an agreement and a contract has been finalised between the two parties.

This means, of course, that the previously announced news of re-runs is now as defunct as Isidingo.

For the full soapie rundown of what's been going on please tap here: Hiatus alert! No new episodes of Generations over the festive season.

This from Mfundi in response to our queries about what's happening with the show:

As regards repeats: there will be no repeats aired tonight. Viewers will see the current episodes.

We have been in negotiations with the SABC and I'm happy to say we have found each other and the contract will be signed.

From our side we apologise for the anxiety caused but delighted the viewers will be able to access their favorite Soap, GENERATIONS: THE LEGACY

For a first look at what to expect from the new season, tune into the teasers here: Generations Teasers - November 2019.

What is happening regarding Isidingo is not fair. It's an SABC 3 issue, not an Isidingo one

Great news! I'm not ready to live in a world without Gen even though I don't watch it religiously. But its Gen! So you said Isidingo is officially defunct? That's disappointing.

This from the SABC:

SABC RECOMMISSIONS GENERATIONS: THE LEGACY

Johannesburg – Monday, 25 November 2019 - The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and Morula Pictures are pleased to announce that Generations: The Legacy has been recommissioned for two new seasons.

The common ground reached by the two parties stems from the fact that the soap has maintained its spot as South Africa’s most loved soap for the past 28 years. The programme boasts a viewership of more than 8.5 million and is currently the second most watched daily soap in the country.

Generations: The Legacy will continue uninterrupted and audiences will be spoilt with fresh episodes throughout December and the rest of 2020.

PS: It hasn't been airing for 28 years as stated in the release...it's 28 seasons and almost 26 years.

I was ready to quit all SA TV when I heard the news. To me, GTL shall forever remain the mainstay of SA TV viewing regardless of the mishaps and challenges.
