The dating reality TV scene takes on a new perspective this month with a search for singles for The Single Wives SA.

Unlike other shows that want singles who've never been married before, this one features single women who've suffered the pain of divorce or widowhood.

The series follows them as they go through a process of trying to let go of their heartache with a view to dating again.

It's airing on M-Net in 2020 and it's based on the Australian format of the same name - produced for M-Net by Black Swan Media (The Voice, The Remix SA).

The format

Here's a description of the series by M-Net's Head of publicity Lani Lombard:

“We are now looking for extraordinary South African ladies who are ready to undergo an emotional and romantic transformation. The Single Wives SA will be a heart-warming show about hope, healing, learning, sisterhood and the journey of self-discovery, guided by a dating guru and relationship coach.”

The six Chosen Ones will live together over a six-week period and will go through a crash course on dealing with harsh truths about themselves, their past heartaches, and the ins and outs of the dating world. The quest? To heal their wounds, restore their confidence and prepare them for re-entry into the dating scene.

To put their new skills into practice, the six single wives will then meet potential suitors on speed dates, at dinner parties and in confidence-challenging activities.
