Please note: the Gebroke Harte finale and Bittersoet premiere dates changed after this article was published so we've updated it to reflect the new dates.
-----

So the first season of eExtra's novela Gebroke Harte ends on Friday, 25 January 2019 and a new novela called Bittersoet (Bitter Sweet) starts in the Monday to Friday timeslot at 19h00, on Monday 28 January 2019.

It's a Turkish novela that's been dubbed into Afrikaans and its Turkish name is Kara Sevda. Interestingly its English name is Endless Love but it's not the Endless Love that used to air on Glow TV.

This is what it's about:

Two separate worlds, both close and distant to each other, lie in a seaside neighborhood of Istanbul.

What happens when two young people from these separate worlds fall in love?

From a middle class family, Kemal (played by Burak Özçivit) is one of three children. His only aim in life is to make a living and survive. It’s his senior year as an engineering student.

A down to earth person, he doesn’t believe in miracles, especially those related to love. But his world turns upside down when Nihan comes into his monotonous life.

From a wealthy family, Nihan (Neslihan Atagül) lives in an affluent area of the neighborhood. However, she finds herself removed from the values of her environment and distant to her own world.

Almost impossible, Kemal and Nihan’s love surpasses their differences and they manage to stay together until Kemal has to leave Istanbul to work on an engineering project in a coal mine.

He then accepts that Nihan and him belong to two very different worlds. Along with this big life lesson, he buries his sorrows and moves to Zonguldak.

What he doesn’t know is that Nihan too has a secret that she needed to bury with her love.
