Project Runway SA: The judges get it wrong in Episode 2

Urgh! I almost rolled my eyes off my face when the Project Runway SA judges announced their verdict on the latest episode.

If you didn't watch the show... which of these two outfits do you prefer? Which deserves to win a fashion design competition?...

According to the Project Runway judges, it's the clown outfit with pompoms on the right. Bah!

Judges on design shows often prefer outfits that don't look good to those of us who aren't designers, but this went waaay too far, espesh considering the fact that it was up against such a gorge creation.

The theme for the episode was Maboneng Precinct with its explosive colour (titled: The Electric Jungle) and Jaime's outfit (on the left) pulled off the task SO much better than Kentse's (on the right).

His dress was superbo - so well structured, professionally created and aesthetically pleasing to look at. It was such a celebration of the power of women too.

You could picture a kickbutt gal strutting down the streets of Maboneng, owning the place in it. Moving with its flow, mesmerising everyone as she sweeps past, flashing a shoulder of authority.

All of this was made more impressive by the fact that Jaime suffers from colour blindness and yet he managed to pull off such a tasteful tribute to colour. It was a real triumph that he managed to overcome his disability to produce such a winner.

But he didn't win. The judges didn't even mention what he'd managed to achieve! Not that I wanted them to be patronising towards him because of his colour blindness, but when you put it all together, his story and what he delivered was much more impressive than Kentse's.

A win by him would also have put an exclamation mark on the colour theme of the episode, highlighting the celebration of colour as seen by someone who doesn't see it like the rest of us.

Ultimately, the episode delivered an epic fail by the judges.

Do you think so too?

Listen that outfit that won was horrendous! In my opinion it deserved to be in the bottom 2. It reminded me of the clothes I'd sew together for my dolls growing up using my mothers old bed sheets.
