Designer Gert-Johan Coetzee to be our Tim Gunn on Project Runway SA

So the person who'll be "making it happen" on our South African version of Project Runway is fash designer Gert-Johan Coetzee a.k.a. The Hair a.k.a. Designs for Bonang.

He's been announced as the show's mentor and the person who'll be overseeing the designer's creative process, which Tim Gunn does on the American show.

I'm happy with the choice because he defs has the credentials and real world experience for it.

Also, I've met him at various occassions and he's fun - has the poential to be a lot less annoying than Gunn.. unless the production makes him say, "Make it happen" over and over too -  they better NOT.

The show starts on Mzansi Magic in July.

I'm so excited. Not everything has to go to David Tlale. Let's see who our Heidi Klum is going to be.

So the judges are Noni Gasa and menswear designer Rahim Rawjee. I don't have a perspective on either of them when it comes to their opinions and how they express them so it's gonna come down to what they're like on the show.

I've seen Noni presenting but it's different from judging - I didn't watch Diamond in the Ruff which she judged.

This from Mzansi Magic's release about them:

Gasa holds a BA Journalism degree, a Masters in Luxury Business, and an MBA in Luxury Brand Management.

Rawjee is the creative mastermind who launched Row-G, Africa’s world-renowned, made-to-measure luxury menswear brand.

Rawjee also runs highly sought after master classes, where he shares his secrets and teaches about the finer aspects of creating impeccably crafted garments.

While Project Runway SA contestants might be lulled by his soft Canadian accent (he attended the International Academy of Merchandising and Design) and his warm persona, they’ll quickly realise that there’s a reason why Obama chooses to wear his designer’s suits.

So all we need now is the name of the host or will Gert Johann double as host and mentor?
