“Hatred, revenge and bitterness - these are negat ive emotions. The person harbouring these emotions suffers more." These were wise words once said by the stalwart who dedicated his entire life to the liberation and freedom of South Africa. An avid viewer and fan of Isidingo, uncle Kathy often requested the show be recorded for him when he wasn’t able to view it. He celebrated part of his 80th birthday on the Isidingo set when he was included in a scene as part of the story. Such a professional in everything he did, Kathrada didn’t even require a written script. His ad-lib piece was perfect after the first take. With the passing of an incredible leader and a National hero, all of us at Isidingo are deeply saddened by the loss of Ahmed Kathrada. He has lived with humility and selflessness and touched and amazed us with his love and kindness. This is a great loss for us all as we have lost a mentor and a friend in him. We extend our deepest condolences to the Kathrada family, friends, all who loved him & all that were loved by Uncle Kathy. We will miss you. May His Soul Rest in Peace!
