So!... ANN7 has announced that the 2016 South African of the Year Awards have been canned until next year due to "unforseen regulatory circumstances".
These "circumstances" come a week after the EFF called for a boycott of the awards by audiences and the ceremony's Top Billing hosts (Bonang, Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Jeannie D) because of the channel being owned by the Guptas.
ANN7 says that a new date will be announced for 2017 so grab your popcorn to see what happens next. Will they go ahead? Should they?
People have already voted and spent money on airtime so they would need to get their money back if they don't happen.
