Zee World brings extra ordinary entertainment to South Africa

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), India's leading television, media and entertainment company launched an exciting new television channel, Zee World at an extra ordinary event hosted at Level 3 in Sandton last night. The brand offers its viewers an extra ordinary world of entertainment, and is the first of its kind fully dubbed English channel showcasing Bollywood movies, series, reality and variety shows and many more action packed content.  

“ZEE WORLD is the first English channel from ZEE for African viewers and will launch with award winning Bollywood movies and series. The channel will also introduce other genres such as kids entertainment, cookery, talent hunt and wellness shows,” says Zee TV South Africa’s CEO, Mr. Harish Goyal.

The programming will captivate the viewer’s hearts with characters, such as LAALI, a story of a bright young girl, who is sold to a wealthy landlord by her parents. A view of contemporary India with the show MARRIED AGAIN which highlights the complexities of a second marriage in today’s society.  Zee World’s variety in programming, offers viewers a choice of many characters that the audience will be able to relate to, as they go through their own life’s journey.

“The corporate positioning of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ meaning ‘The world is my family’ is the driving force that enables us to bring authentic and entertaining content to global audiences, with a vision to reach a billion viewers by 2020”, says Essel Group & ZEEL Chairman, Dr. Subhash Chandra.

Zee World is a completely customized channel experience for mainstream audiences in Africa and will be available from the 3rd of February 2015 on DSTV channel 166. All series that will be aired have undergone extensive research & customization including editing and dubbing with most of the channel’s content dubbed in South Africa.

With a strong worldwide presence, boasting over 35 channels which has entered many homes and won the hearts of over 730 million viewers across 169 countries. ZEE first ventured into Africa 18 years ago as the brands first international territory. Its widely acclaimed flagship channel ZEE TV has been present on DSTV since 1996 & Canal Plus since 2006.

The channel promises dramatic and thrilling content which will be available in Sub Saharan Africa from 3rd February 2015 on DStv Premium, Extra, Compact and Family pack in South Africa and from the Access pack above within the rest of Africa. It would also be available on the Multichoice Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) GO TV platform.
