India-inspired ZEE World to launch on DStv

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) - one of India's leading television, media and entertainment companies - has announced the launch of an exciting new television channel Zee World. The brand offers its viewers an extra ordinary world of entertainment, and is the first of its kind showcasing World series, Bollywood movies, reality and food shows and so much more action packed content.  

Zee World is a completely customized channel experience for mainstream audiences in Africa and will be available from 3 February 2015 on DSTV channel 166.

“The corporate positioning of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ meaning ‘The world is my family’ is the driving force that enables us to bring authentic and entertaining content to global audiences, with a vision to reach a billion viewers by 2020”, says Essel Group & ZEEL Chairman, Dr. Subhash Chandra.

With a strong worldwide presence, boasting over 33 channels which entertains 730+ million viewers across 169 countries, ZEEL first ventured into Africa 18 years ago as the brand's first international territory. It's widely acclaimed flagship channel ZEE TV has been present on DSTV since 1996 & Canal Plus since 2006.

“ZEE WORLD is the first offering from ZEE for mainstream viewers in Africa, there are many other channels planned for the near future,” says CEO Africa’s, Mr. Harish Goyal.

All content that will be aired has undergone extensive research & customization including editing and dubbing. Most of the channel’s content is dubbed in South Africa using local talent.

Zee World will launch with four award winning series: SALONI, LAALI, MARRIED AGAIN, THE PROMISE and Blockbuster Bollywood movies. The channel will also introduce other genres such as other world drama series, kids, food, reality and health shows before the end of the year 2015.

The channel promises dramatic and thrilling content which will be available in Sub Saharan Africa from 3rd February 2015 on DSTV Premium, Extra, Compact and Family pack in South Africa and the Access pack within the rest of Africa. It will also be available on the Multichoice Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) GO TV platform.
