Storm erupts at Cape Town X Factor auditions

The first round of The X Factor auditions hit Cape Town this weekend (14 and 15 June) and everyone who went to them on Saturday deserved an automatic entry into the next phase. They auditioned on the worst day of the year.

Temperatures plunged, a manic storm hit Athlone Stadium in the morning and yet stacks of hopefuls still turned out to do their thang:

An oasis for those who were finished auditioning.
No-one was able to leave for home because of the weather chaos.

Showing off u ongasolveki.

Auditionee Lumka who was very pleased with herself for managing to fash-it-up
despite the weather's attemtps to smother all things glam.

Approximately 50 people were at the venue when the
production crew arrived at 05h00 in the morning.

Biggest handbag spotted: auditionee Tarryn took a suitcase instead.
Contents include a blanket.

After the queue hopefuls froze here before going in to the actual audition venue.
The stadium had a roof but still, it was ice.

Because The X Factor allows group auditions too, I was quizzy to see what groups turned out. I didn't spot any while I was there ... apparently a couple of groups have auditioned in between but the majority of auditionees have been solo.

So, I decided to turn into Simon Cowell. As you probs know, One Direction only became a group when they were on X Factor UK - they were all solo wannabes who Simon concocted into One Direction so I did the same with Shot Left.

Sho't Left.

Sho't Left gathered together, decided on their name and then proceeded to belt out their first song. By Rihanna. As you'll see from the vid below, their start was dodgy because they'd just met for the first time but they got into it soon after:
