Nashville starts on M-Net tonight (14 October) at 21h40 - 10 minutes later than it usually will. From next week it'll start at 21h30 weekly but the premiere starts 10 minutes later to accommodate the Homeland 3 premiere that's airing just before.
I'd highly recommend catching it these 5 reasons:
1) If you've ever had your heart broken and need a song that expresses how you feel you're guaranteed to hear the purrfect song on the show. It's a musical drama and the music's the bomb - it's been such a hit in the US the show's released three albums already.
2) It's the perfect tale for our times. The action's set in the heart of the country music scene in Nashville and centres round two country stars: Rayna James (played by
Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (
Hayden Panetierre).
Rayna's a country music legend who's fame has started to fade while Juliet's a rising teen star. It's about the clash between them and their two worlds: old school vs new school.
As a result the music and story lines are contemporary and addictive - it reinvents country music too.
3) Life imitates art on it bigtime. All of the actors sing the songs themselves - they're all excellent and much better than American Idol and X-Factor contestants (and winners!).
4) It introduces a sister music act you have to see to believe. Real life sisters Lennon and Maisy Stella play Rayna's daughters and they're brilliant.
