Bio

Connie Britton is an American actress best known for her starring television roles as Nikki, the hyper-efficient office accountant with a chaotic personal life, on Spin City (1996-2000) and as Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights, from 2006-2011.

She also starred as Vivien Harmon in the first season of the horror anthology series American Horror Story, in 2011.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Britton moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of seven with her family, including her fraternal twin sister.

She went on to attend Dartmouth College, where she majored in Asian studies and spent a term in Beijing, China.

Upon graduation, she moved to New York, where she spent two years at the Neighborhood Playhouse studying with Sanford Meisner and an additional two years performing in regional theatre and Off-Broadway productions.

She moved to Los Angeles after the success of the feature film The Brothers McMullen.

Britton received accolades for her starring roles in Ed Burns' acclaimed independent films The Brothers McMullen and No Looking Back. In the former, she captivated moviegoers with her portrayal of Molly, the luminous wife of a cheating husband. This popular low-budget film went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

After nearly canceling her audition with director Ed Burns, she reconsidered and her last meeting of the day turned into the role that would launch her career.

Britton also won notice as Heather, the all-too-perfect sister of Joely Fisher's Paige on a 1995 episode of Ellen.

She has also been featured in support of Andrew McCarthy and Paul Sorvino in Escape Clause, a 1996 murder mystery made for Showtime.

In 1998, she reunited with Burns in a featured role as Lauren Holly's sister in his third directorial effort, No Looking Back.

Britton starred in Lost at Home opposite Mitch Rouse and Gregory Hines. Her other television credits include The Fighting Fitzgeralds opposite Brian Dennehy, a recurring role in The West Wing, and a starring role in the award-winning comedy Spin City opposite Michael J. Fox.

She also had a recurring role on the 5th season of the television drama 24, playing the role of Diane Huxley, the landlady of protagonist Jack Bauer, in six episodes.

In 2006 Britton appeared in The Last Winter opposite Ron Perlman and The Lather Effect, directed by Sarah Kelly. Her feature credits also include Edward Burns' independent film Looking for Kitty.
