Impossible questions plunge Million Rand Drop

MRMD Plunges 1

I'm so disappointed in Million Rand Money Drop I've stopped watching. I was really looking forward to it before it started, I enjoyed the first episode but then things got dodgy and two weeks ago the show plunged when no-one won a cent.

I found the experience of watching so frustrating I didn't watch last week's episode but I heard that the same thing happened and I'm shocked. How can you have a game show where no-one wins a thing for two weeks in a row?!

It wasn't just that the contestants didn't win that annoyed me so much but it was the way it happened. As if the show wanted them to leave with nothing by being misleading and posing questions that are so impossible to answer you can't even make an educated guess.

MRMD Plunges 2
Shereen who partnered with her brother Eugene.

The real plunge happened for me when siblings Shereen and Eugene were asked: "What year did Bob Marley pass away?"

For starters it's ridiculous to pose questions so sensitively ... what's wrong with saying that someone died??

Also, and most importantly, the dates of the possible answers were so close to each other it was impossible to make any sort of deduction as to what the right date could be.

In case you didn't see it, the choice of answers were:

1981 | 1983 | 1985 | 1990

Impossible! Even Marley disciples would be hard pressed by the question (espesh' if they're puffing on jah) so it's an exercise in absolute guess work for everyone else - which isn't entertaining at all.

The show could at least have divided the answers into decades or something e.g. 1971 | 1981 | 1991 | 2001 etc - not ideal but a bit better at least. Shereen and Eugene didn't stand a chance.

MRMD Plunges 3
Engaged couple Rategang and Thabo.

MDMD Plunges 6

Rategang and Thabo who followed them were also so doomed - from the first question. They were given the categories: "Slogans" or "Goalies" to choose from and they chose "Goalies" but the question had absolutely nothing to do with goalies.

Instead it was about the history of soccer clubs. The question: "Which is the oldest team competing in the South African premiere league?"

Luckily they were wise about soccer generally but still, it was misleading - they may as well as have been given a category like "The steam engine" because that's history too. Or "TV shows" because soccer often airs on TV.

Oh, wait, they actually did get that category too.

The category "TV Shows" suddenly popped up in between the chaos - a technical mistake obviously. Just after they made their choice of "Goalies" this popped up on the screen behind host Busi Lurayi ...

MDMD Plunges 5
The category screenbombed the set for no reason whatsoever and the editor didn't bother to edit it out of the show.

Rabo went on to disaster despite their second question being too easy. It was so overly easy it was ridiculous too and highlighted how unstable the questions are. The question: "What is the generally accepted meaning of the texting abbreviation BFF?"

*Eye roll.*

Of course they knew it in a heartbeat but it didn't help because what followed was one terrible question after the next. Bah!

All in all it sucks because if anyone happens to luck out to win the million I won't see it because I'm SO over the show.

But remember we are talking a METRE here not some few cents. So the questions need to tricky and if your general knowledge is tops definitely you will come out tops no matter how questions may be tricky.

I love the way they ask questions. Asking easy questions won't make the game interesting. Games are all about TRICK period.
