New Ashley Judd thriller coming to M-Net

 Ashley Judd Missing 3

When you think of Ashley Judd what do you think of besides "chipmunk cheeks"?

These are the free association images that rush through my mind when I think of her ... needing to escape, alone and fighting for justice, betrayed by people she loves, searching for people she loves, trying to solve murders with sickos trying to kill her, hair that seems convenient to manage in any crisis, kidnapped family members, serial killers involved.

She's faced each of these across her movies and now she's tackling all of them together in a new TV show called Missing. I guffawed when I first heard the title because it's one simple word and yet it suits everything she's done so perfectly you can't imagine anyone else playing the lead.

She plays Becca Winstone, a mother and former CIA agent who finds herself in a desperate situation when her son travels to Europe. They stay in touch daily when suddenly he disappears. Needless to say she has a very dramatic and perfectly Judd'like response to the turn of events:

Missing Poster 1

It debuted in the US on 15 March and we'll be seeing it in early April. The rights have been scooped by M-Net - it premieres on Saturday, 7 April at 19h30 for a 10-episode season.

Ashley's also an executive producer on the series and was very specific about what she wanted the show to be before she signed up. I can't remember where I heard or saw it, but apparently one of her requirements was that the show doesn't go on and on without delivering answers or reaching a conclusion so we can expect it to come to a definite end.

Other notables in the cast include Sean Bean who must have been pleased to land a new gig so soon after getting his head lopped off in Game of Thrones.
