The Firm Large

SONY has announced that the channel will bringing us John Grisham's anticipated new TV series The Firm.

It debuts on NBC in America on 8 January 2012 and will be released internationally on Sunday, 19 February to 111 territories, including Asia, Central Europe, Russia and us.

The series is set 10 years after the action of the movie ended and centres round the same lead character Mitch McDeere, who was played by Tom Cruise.

Tom Cruise The Firm Josh Lucas Large
Tom Cruise before Oprah's couch/Josh Lucas now.

Josh Lucas takes over the role of Mitch in his first lead role in a while. He's done mostly movies and hasn't headlined a series since the mid-90's so the jury will be out on what he delivers.

Molly Parker Callum Keith Renni Tricia Helfer

Also in the cast are Molly Parker (Deadwood and Six Feet Under) - who plays Mitch's wife Abby - and two Battlestar Gallactica allumni Callum Keith Rennie and Tricia Helfer.

Juliette Lewis Large

Most interesting is that Juliette Lewis stars in it too. She makes an acting comeback after years of being too quiet. Seems she's been concentrating on music over the past few years. She also delivers a superbo tech-performance in the game Grand Theft Auto - she plays the DJ of the game's radio station.

In The Firm she plays Mitch's sexy receptionist Tammy.

Here's what we can expect from the story, followed by sneak peak trailers released by NBC:

Mitch McDeere, who worked with the FBI to bring down a Memphis law firm associated with the Chicago mob, coming out of near total isolation after his family spent a decade in the Federal Witness Protection Program.

The McDeeres are ready to return to their old lives and leave the past behind them - but the mob has a long memory. Add that to Mitch's new association with another firm that may or may not be involved in something illicit, and the path ahead is dangerous and unknown.

As old enemies return and new threats emerge, Mitch has no choice but to fight back if he ever hopes to return to some sense of normalcy. But can one man fight a criminal conspiracy? At least Mitch has one thing going for him: he's done it before.
