Hang onto your bikini and make sure you wear it well. The search for this year's Miss South Africa and Miss SA Teen has begun.

The Miss SA pageant takes place at Sun City again this year, in December 2011. Last year it aired on DStv's Mzansi Magic for the first time and will be broadcast on the channel again this year.

Here's a description of what the competition is looking for:

"Sun International is looking for someone with extra special qualities. The winner of Miss SA represents South Africa internationally and locally, plays an important role in various Sun International Corporate Social Investment projects and interacts both socially and in a business environment with influential leaders in society.

Not only do you have to have beauty and a bikini-perfect body, but you must be able to compete on the world stage against international beauties and you have to be compassionate, intelligent and charitable."

Miss SA entry must-knows

To enter Miss SA you need to be 18-years old by 1 November 2011 - and no older than 25.

You must be a South African citizen.

You must have a matric or equivalent qualification.

You can't be engaged, married or have had a marraige annulled.

You can't have a criminal record.

You musn't have children or be pregnant.

You musn't have any visible tattoos.

You need to submit the following with your entry:
  • A copy of your birth certificate, ID book or passport.
  • Two recent A4 colour photographs (one head & shoulders, one full length) dressed appropriately.
  • Matric certificate.
Entries close on 26 June 2011.

Once the paperwork of the entries is complete, successful hopefuls will be invited to attend a regional judging process where you'll meet the judges and need to impress them in the flesh.

After the regionals, semi-finalists will be chosen who'll attend an intensive workshop in August. The workshops include lessons in deportment and etiquette, brand management, financial skills, media training and general life skills. The judges will be part of the workshop - and will judge - to choose the Top 12.

The 12 finalists then go on to participate in the pageant in December.
