A very uncomfy lookin' chair
The design exhibition Decorex is happening at the Cape Town Convention Centre this coming long weekend - from Friday, 24 to Monday, 27 April.

The annual exhibition showcases new design furnishings, architecture, cookery and art.

The theme for the year is New Fusion and highlights include "green" furniture, couture dog beds and artwork surrounding next year's soccer world cup.

SABC3 is the official media partner to the event and will be hosting various talks and demonstrations by experts involved in the industry at a special SABC3 Lifestyle Theatre.

Talks and demo's include things like tips from expert chefs and do-it-yourself projects. The Theatre's situated amidst the exhibition and runs throughout the event.

Doors open at 10h00 on all four days. They close at 20h00 from Friday to Sunday; and close at 18h00 on Monday.

Ticket price: R50 per person.

The event was held in Durban in March and will be on in Johannesburg in August.

For more info about the highlights and demo's etc see: www.decorex.co.za.

I'm shocked 'cos I'm getting more green. I'm anti the whole media concept generally 'cos I don't believe it's only us responsible for global warming - I think the earth would heat up anyway, just as it's cooled and heated across the eons but I also think if there's stuff we can do to slow it down it's a good thing - 'spesh when it comes to things like fumes, factories, cars etc.

I've never bought a new car (always got one for pure convenience and price after a much beloved beetle got written off) and the other day I was wondering what I'd get if I did and realised the one I REALLY want is an electric one, except as far as I know you can't get them or they're exhorbitantly pricey. It's so ridiculous - imagine how much you'd save in petrol etc, 'spesh if they were solar panelled.

Another alternative for shorter trips is a segway - I'm finished for them and don't understand why they're not more popular and everywhere generally. The security dudes have them at Oliver Thambo airport and they rock. SO want to ask for try when I see them.

Mmmm - just realised my intentions aren't actually as greenly noble as I'd like to think. My main reason for liking the idea of an electric car is not having to pay for petrol or being at it's mercy and the greeness of it is an extra bonus.
