These Forbes list are usually based on public listed earnings...most likely the celebrities earn more than these figures because most of them have invested some of their fortune on Wall Street......Not all listed companies are doing bad on the stock exchange.......

You know Cande, now that you say that, I had an interesting conversation recently with someone who was talking about how rich Mandoza is.
Apparently, just from his music, Mandoza is a millionare. HIs latest album(Which I did not know was recently released), has apparently gone gold, and performances and what what make the man great monies. I was shocked coz I was always under the impression that Mzansi musicians on average get like a R100 000 cheque from sales, and a bit more from performances and so on. I guess I"m too ignorant!

Rene I think someone should break it down for us, so we understand what artists mean when they say "Gold" which I think is 10 000 copies. So if your CD is 100 that means its R1million. How is this million broken down e.g. Artist gets x, recording company gets x, etc.

So if Lira performs at the Jazz festival does she get a portion from ticket sales, or there's an agreed amount.

This is interesting: it would also be interesting to find out how much DJ charge per set. E.g. Glen plays every weekend, if he gets say R30 000 for each gig at say 3 gigs a weekend, thats R90 000 a weekend, R360 000 a month - IS THAT POSSIBLE??

How much do radio DJ's get paid a month on average - I once heard that a certain radio stations, breakfast DJ's take as much as R60k a month..

Who knows these ins and out... please share with us ;-)

Lavhee by far ka di Radio station DJ's the last I checked Jeremy Mansfield was the highest paid radio DJ. Its said gore in 2000 he was earning R1M per annum.
Now the list below is for the last time I checked last year and obviously its estimations. Dont know how true this is...

I know radio DJ"s make some good money, particularly breakfast. I think someone once did an article on it even. Apparently the best paid DJ in SA is Jeremy Mansfield from the rude awakening on 94.7, he ropes in around R100 000 a month. I mean honestly, for talking for 3hrs? I even wonder how much the many side kicks make on the show, particularly Bongani, who's job is to tell us about the traffic, and now and again, sing in Wackheads funny things.

hey fellow bloggers.... well i know for a fact that jeremy mansfield is the highest paid radio jock currently. i also knw that dj sbus 2-year breakfast deal with yfm is 2,5million rands. that means he earns just in excess of over r100 000. . . . . beating guys that have been in the game a long time. these include glen, badboy t aka mr boring , just-ice , etc. bt the highest paid black radio jock, believe it or not, is that breakfast dj from motsweding fm.... of course, sbus deal is more lucrative. he gets 10percent free air-space on his own show to sell himself or anythng he wants to, hence he is able 2 push the mzekezeke tracks and voda-deals. he also gets a portion of the endorsements moneys from the breakfast show. you will also know, sbu hosts friends like these on sabc1. he is the brand ambassador of sheleni, kwaal, danki sani, etc t-shirts and he gets money from sales profits . as mzekeze, he has the vodacom deal where he sells the mzekezeke starter packs. from ag cellular, mzekezeke has his own cellphone. he co-owns ts-records with tk nciza. he just clinched himself a honda endorsement deal after losing that of audi due to the speeding saga. as mzekeze, he is also the ambassador of ekuruleni municipality in-line with that places 2010 plans. dj sbu is making serious money.... way beyond mandoza or zola. there is no prize for guessing who would clinch the spot for south africas richest man in the entertainment arena. more endorsement deals for him are on the pipeline, im certain. his breakfast show ratings and friends like these ratings are hitting the roof. im pitiful for phat joe and thomas. shame! dj sbu, uyinja sani. sihamba phantsi. u cant help but just humble urself and adore the guy. lets see what 2009 has in store 4 him!

no, i just work closely with him. you could just say im at a platform where i know far better about him that most do. come to think of it, sbu , gets-- on average-- 2 gigs every night. this comes as him either being dj sbu or as mzekezeke. the weekends become extra hactic, with sometimes trotting to over 4 - 6 gigs in one night for friday and saturday. do u know how much their minimum charge for a gig at ts is? let mi gv an example. for a 30minute set, dj sbu charges no less than r35 000. the same goes for him as mzakesman. nw figure this, if on average you perform at at least 12 gigs a week, for a month, and so on, how much do u make? not forgeting sales! not forgetting royalties! damn, what im trying to say guys is that we have a lot of rand millionair entertainment guys in sa. just that they are not documented or we dont have the capacity. bt top this info about sbus gigs and that on the page above, the guy is a multi-millionaire and he aint apologetic about that. he is currently the most influential local celeb, both in trends and otherwise. shuga, you should also hook the bloggers with the 2008 google zeitgeist list. it shows that dj sbu was the most searched for entry under the local celebrity list for 2008 on google. he even beat umsholozi, fresh , and even the idiot...... julius mahlanya, oops, malema!
