COMMENT ON THE SA NOMINEES
JOZI deserves to win, they've been really successful...
HHP"s overrated...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
FRESHLYGROUND couldn't match up to their first album
PROKID I haven't seen his video but I'm sure YFM & its listeners will vote for him
ZONKE at least she will have the MTV Africa Award Nominee before her name....
LOYISO ...good album but the contenders are too strong for him...
Da LES...I only know  one song, tippy toes but he's a real entertainer...I would give him an award anyday for being so committed. Love his look too.
PARLOTONES, CASSETTE etc...I dont listen to 5FM so I can't comment. Besides, COLDPLAY's gonna kick their ass...
DJ CLEO...good sound, wrong/weird category for him to be in...even if he doesn't win, at least he'll have something else to boast about...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE NOMINEES
....and just because I don't think you will win doesn't mean you won't :-)

Who's helping me gatecrash this event ko Naija?

First of all, gasp at your HHP is overrated comment BS!Stay clear of dark alleys,HHPloonies worship this guy!Who except for Trevor could have hosted the awards...and don't say Sizwe. They're called AFRICA Music Awards for a reason,I just don't see Rihanna jetting down to Naija to collect an award. My fave contender is Asa,the woman is talented.Best Vid goes to ProKid,it's very fitting to the song.Best (white) Alternative should go to the Parlotones, very cool fellas. It would have been nice if they'd had a live broadcast, adds to the excitement and hype.

<<<It would have been nice if they'd had a live broadcast, adds to the excitement and hype.>>>
I agree!!

As for the HHPloonies...let's just say "I know" lol

<<<Who except for Trevor could have hosted the awards...and don't say Sizwe>>> Why not?? They trained him up from nothing to being what he is today so why can't they give him the stage to showcase what he's learned all these years? He's got the charm, the talent, I don't see why not.

I agree..its MTV Africa Music Awards for goodness sake! Now what are the likes of Coldplay doing on this list, coz regarding those US artists they will refer us to their so-called muthaland roots...hayi!

HHP"s overrated...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
I wouldn't say he's overrated per se, he deserves all the current recognition he's getting. However, im so not feeling his other songs apart from 'Music & lights'.

Alternative should go to the Parlotones Im with you

'Lil Wayne (USA) (duh!!!) '  You cannot be serious BS- now this is one overrated cat- andiyiva nento ayithethayo, gimmicks all the way!

I love the Parlotones- truth is I only knw one song- the one wit the the lil foil man in the vid- thats a cool song BT Goldfish is also seriously cool.
Loyiso - Find him extremely, extremely overrated & he is way overshadowed talent wise by his fellow contenders in that category.

Akon (Senegal / USA) - urm..why the two countries- sure he's foriginally rom Senegal bt American thru & thru!

the European MTV awards work in a very similar way, i wnder why the guys choose Nigeria to host the 1st event? I don't see the appeal.
But im glad to see sa talent being recognised from Seether, Parlotones, Cassette, HHP, FreshlyGround, Jozi, Pro even Loyiso this goes to show or music industry is both versatile, dynamic and creative.
Hopefully the MTV base awards will force channel o to jerk up their awards standard.sweet

Cande,it's impossible to ignore the power of the Nigerian music industry and as ridiculous as some of their music vids can get,it's good music. And the decision to have the awards in Naija....DOES SA REALLY NEED TO HOST ANOTHER AWARDS SHOW THIS YEAR?I think some other countries tend to get overshadowed and besides Nigeria is SA's second in command, right?

Bendingazi ukuthi AKON sings Rn'B......

I really think the overated one is .DJ Cleo........

Joe
10 Oct 2008 15:10

Dee I agree with you, DJ Cleo is HIGHLY overrated...who can listen and enjoy "Ndiya today"??...No one!

I don't understanding your Zonke hating people...Zonke is great!!! She is a talented and great singer! I love all her singles (Uzondilinda and Ekhaya). Not forgetting "Pleasure"! Her album has an international potential!!!! Just give it a listen and you will see that it is a must have kinda album...its timeless!  I will vote for her....

HHP is certainly not overrated, he is great in Hip Hop not Rap! Can they please stop nominating and awarding him for RAP categories!!!!

I hope all the SA artists win....(i'm such a patriot!)

Joe

mjj<<why r u not answering my smses>>
BS<<Didn't get any sms from you today>>
I hate to break it to you mjj, BS gave you the wrong number! LOL

My thoughts on metrofm awards nominees:
Song of the year:
They seem to be all equally deserving of the award...but to be frank, i don't know the song by Rythmic Elements "2 by 2", i think i might have heard on live, but i think its good, hence its there! All in all whoever gets the award, deserves it!

Hit single of the year:
After this comment you will ask where the hell do i live?? which planet??
The only song i know is Umsindo by B's ex boyfriend! Shame, poor B, being dumped on Facebook must be hurting...she looked hot on live izolo! It is as if she was not dumped...commiserations Bonang...utla luka! (hope the Sotho is correct). I hope they give it to Kelly, she has been flashing her thighs for a long time and not being recognised...they must just give it to her although i dont even know her song....Umsindo is a BAD song...i just dont like it!

Best styled artist:
I think Loyiso should have it! I dont care about who gets this one, it has nothing to do with music!

Best R&B album:
I think Loyiso should get it, BYM has many good songs in it...its not a bubblegum music album...(just my thoughts)! I havent heard Danny's album, but i wouldnt be upset if he takes it home!

Best New Comer:
Jaziel Brothers should take this one...its theirs...

Best Kwaito album:
Big Nuz....i just did not feel L'vovo! uAdam...hayi andazi ngaye...ndisave only one song from him....Kabelo?? Did he release an album?? When?? What is his single?? Yho i think he is paying for what he said in Suncity about journalists, they never write anything about him....it was very dumb of you to do that, your future depends on these people writing about you in their magz and newspaperssssssssssss!

to be continuedddddddd
