Mutodi Neshehe fired! from Muvhango

Recent behind-the-scenes events on the set of SABC2's soapie Muvhango have turned out to be hotter than the on-screen action.

Today (Thursday, 19 June ) the show's camera shy executive producer Duma Ndlovu made a statement saying that the soapie will not be renewing actor Mutodi Neshehe's contract - which expired in May 2008 - because of his continued failure to pitch up for work and his unexplained disappearances.

"It was difficult for the production house to take this decision but unfortunately they were left with no option because things did not work out between us and the actor," said Ndlovu.

"Mutodi was called in to a meeting in February regarding his performance, he never took his job seriously, he was not committed and his performance was not up to standard."

"We spoke to him and his agent to address the issue of under performance and commitment, and gave him an opportunity to correct these issues, unfortunately he didn’t and we were left us with no option”.

He was allegedly supposed to shoot his final Muvhango scenes in May and didn't arrive for filming. Repeated calls to him and his colleagues were met with silence and he's never been back to the set.

Neshehe however has a different story. According to the Sunday World he demanded extra money to shoot his final scenes but Ndlovu refused to pay, so he in turn refused to shoot his final scenes.

“It’s like he is running a spaza shop. Everyone is somehow related to him. That’s the other thing I don’t understand,” Neshehe told Sunday World.

“He is a bully and people are scared of him. His word is final. Don’t you ask yourself why he loses good actors every year?"

Ndlovu disagrees.

"Pay is related to the work that you do," said Ndlovu. "You cannot be paid for work you haven’t done. We welcome him to come back and complete those scenes and be paid for them."

"We are confident that he will do well in his future endeavours, " Ndlovu concluded. "Young as he is we believe that with his experience, he is bound to go far. We wish him all the best in his next projects."

If past Muvhango ex-employees are anything to go by the future looks bright for Neshehe - actress Khanyi Mbau's career exploded after Ndlovu delivered her a Trump card.

Neshehe, who's played Ndalamo Mukwevho since 2005, proved he has two left feet earlier this year when he was the first celebrity dancer to be ousted from Strictly Come Dancing 4 - at around the same time the Muvhango crisis started.

The character of Ndalamo Mukwevho will be written out of the show and Neshehe will make his final on-screen appearance in November 2008.

Yeah yeah yeah whatever!
Mutodi has a different take on things...when will we ever hear a case of "amicable what what" when it comes to Muvhango. Like I said before, they might as well call it Munyango.

Here is what Mutodi said in the Sunday World this past week:
Original article: http://www.sundayworld.co.za/swzones/sundayworldNEW/news/news1213614167.asp

Ndalamo makes a premature exit
THEO NYHABA

Popular Muvhango actor Mutodi Neshehe has quit the series in the midst of a financial storm.
Neshehe, who plays Ndalamo in the soapie, is entangled in a financial dispute with the drama creator Duma Ndlovu.

Sunday World sources say Neshehe demanded extra money to shoot his final scenes, but Ndlovu refused to cough up, so Neshehe in turn refused to shoot the scenes. In retaliation, it seems, the producers did not pay Neshehe his May salary.
...........
In future the nasal English-spewing Ndalamo will return to America after divorcing either Thandaza or Meme.

Our informant says Neshehe told the producers he wouldn’t shoot the scenes because his contract expired at the end of May and he’d have to be paid more to shoot in June.

“Why should I shoot an extra scene if I won’t get paid for it?” he asks.

He confirms that he has left the multilingual soapie and adds that he has not been paid his salary for May .
“My contract ended last month and I want my pay,” says Neshehe.

He adds that the reason he doesn’t want to renew his contract is because Ndlovu doesn’t treat people well.

“It’s like he is running a spaza shop. Everyone is somehow related to him. That’s the other thing I don’t understand,” he says. “He is a bully and people are scared of him. His word is final. Don’t you ask yourself why he loses good actors every year? ”

Neshehe, who has a three-week-old baby girl named Alexis Love with his wife Leslee, says Ndlovu is trying to take food from his daughter’s month.

“Duma is being spiteful. When I asked the producer Skhumbuzo Mbatha why I wasn’t paid, he said Duma had told him not to pay me. I want the money I worked for.”

Neshehe says his life won’t be bad because he will be producing.
“He says he has also landed an acting role on a local movie called South Cross. It will be shot in July.
Ndlovu refuses to comment, saying he doesn’t handle the media.

Why is Bra Duma only commenting today?

but now what is going to happen to the storyline? Muvhango is heading for a huge disaster..It means no more drama in Gauteng only in Venda..

Renegade
20 Jun 2008 01:22

I just wish Muvhango would stop with the storyline of 2 women fighting for one men, we saw it already, and it was oh so lengthy! Plus it always involves Thandaza.

I agree Belz, he wasn't much of an actor to begin with.

Neshehe, who's played Ndalamo Mukhwevo since 2005, proved he has two left feet earlier this year when he was the first celebrity dancer to be ousted from Strictly Come Dancing 4 ->>>>> Thats where it all started, duma wants actors on his set not celebrities damn he sucks. 20 Jun 2008 01:50

Ja, good riddance Mutodi. There's something seriously wrong with Duma and the way he treats his staff. He wants to ground everyone as if he's running a boarding school..And where does he get some actors like  that new receptionist related to Mukwevho's.So i guess he thinks because he introduces them on our tv screens then he can pay them a pittance.

Did anyone notice how tall their Bafuwi is.  Muvhango is really boring, that 2nd wife of the chief, when she started it was like she will bring some action into the ever rude clan of Mukwevho's people, now she is so lame, but I like the 1st wife though, she knows her place and is very assertive.

Are real companies bieng run that MM is?  The 2 uncles are nover proactive, they always react in a negative way to anything other people do!  My day just got worse - this show needs some pecking up "remove by being struck repeatedly with a beak"
