Well when i joined tvsa,we only discussed tv related issues. Then there was this Gold Member status that was introduced,i underherstand that people had to subscribe toget that status and thus the status allowed them to discuss others issues besides tv related ones. The biggest mistake  i guess was taking away the subscription fee for that kind of option or status. Then everyone was a Gold Member and all issues under the sun were discussed. Then we all know gore the bloggers are creative,so then everyone ended up enjoying other issues besides that of tv.We lost it there!!!!!Lets face it,mabloggers are really coming up with very interesting topics that one cannot runaway from.

But then tvsa for me is also a forum where i met very intelligent and interesting people. But we need to find a  way of going back to discussing television.

All in all we love this site

I first came here the TVSA was much more interesting because we would discuss about TV related stuff & Celebrities.  But now people are rude,  childish, boasting& bragging about this and that. So maybe some bloggers thought its time to move on.

I have actually spoken to few old bloggers who don't visit the site anymore because most of the things that are being discussed don't interest them anymore.

this statement manje is kinda tiring "what happened to the old bloggers" ?? duh.. lets move on .!!.and it gives  impression that the current and new bloggers . input and articles not interesting enaf. c!!.ya'll busy goin on about them as if since they left TVSA is doomed and 2my opinion it has not changed, but took a different angle with more freedom of speech and motivational blogs  which has helped lots of ppl with their personal issues...

And yes Luvbug u have networked( personally or via emails with other bloggers) so have a lot of ppl here and if ur fellow blgger leaves TVSA due their personal issues well..that doesnt stop ur friendship with them continue 2chat with them of TVSA and stop mourning & appreciate the new members

TVSA has created a platform for viewers 2express themselves about what bothers them and if im sure if producers and SABC creative team we givin them ideas of what we want as the public..negative or positive comments ...!!

01 Apr 2008 13:16

I could not have said it better than you Mabhebheza, change is always good, the spirit is still up here in TVSA the new people are keeping us entertained. If TVSA is no longer appealing to you as it was always encouraged the red/black X at the top of ur screen will be a solution for you. We cannot keep on asking ourselves where people go to. In life people outgrow things hence it is the same case here.

01 Apr 2008 13:29

Thank u Molilo....well said red/black X at the top ur screen is a solution qha case closed..!! now ppl must tiptoe just incase  the so "called" resident bloggers" might decide 2leave haai suka...

Guys cool off, this is not the time fOr us to be at each others throats. The people who started this site(Tashi & Luke) had only one thing in mind and that was to critic South African television. They gave us the platform talk about what on our tellies on daily basis. But then the very same people are very open minded, they allowed us the opportunity to also explore other issues besides that of television.

Guys lets face it this is Television South AFrica, not facebook,my space mix it or those social network site. But like you guys are saying, change is good but lets welcome change without compromising the idea the erection ofthis site.Lets work together to make it work.
,
I respect people such as Segololo and Brown Shuga who are able to strike the balance by being able to blog about both social and television issue.I also take my hat off for people such as WSG,Harambe24 who's righting is so intriging and spot on.We need this kind of talent.

Then there are people such as Mabhebheza,Lavhe,Vatma,Belz,Toxic,Molilo,Sponono,
who's comments and contribution will leave you in stiches.I cant mention everyone but my point  is we all contribute differently on this iste but we just need to balance and channel our blogging accordingly.Lets not loose side of the mission and statement.

Do i hear an AMEN!!!!!

I used to write articles for a blog that I had on TashiTagg, a website that Tashi and Luke owned.  When they decided to shut the TT website down, I asked them if I could bring my blog to TVSA and I joined as a gold member because I wanted to support Tashi and Luke.  I would without a doubt pay a membership fee to them for hosting my blog.

I do not care for the TVSA politics...  TashiTagg also had a lot of politcs and I did not get involved.  Same as I try to avoid the politics of TVSA. Real life politics are challenging enough as it is.... I simply do not have the time or energy for virtual politics.

All I want to do is write for fun. TVSA offered me the opportunity and I will be forever greatful to Tashi and Luke.

As far as possible I try to respect other people's written work...  I would think twice before I reply to articles because even though freedom of speech is something that I value...  I also value other's people's opinions and feelings.  If I do not find an article interesting or if I do not like it, I will simply not reply.  Like, I love Shuga's blog but since she writes about SA celebs that I do not know, I do not reply.  But she is educating me on SA celebs! And  I just wish someone would a similar column for my country's celebs.

I did try TV writting... I find it hard because I simply do not have the time.  I would miss programmes and than only get a chance to watch a taped version days later on.

01 Apr 2008 14:34

Well set WSG,lets leave politics for the politicians and enjoy ourselves. We are learning from one another but still on that note lets learn to respects one another

LM
01 Apr 2008 21:51

Well said guys, I respect your different opinions on this issue. Well I only joined and started posting replies around August 07, so I can't really tell how diff TVSA is now in terms of content/blogs.

When I joined there were a couple of fairly popular bloggas and I guess they enjoyed their kind of elevated status. New bloggas came in....they were/are hillarious and were able to appeal to the masses and kept on 'improving' their (new bloggas)craziness.....you know how we people love new & diff things....At this stage the 'legends' took a back seat...they were no longer creating as much hype as they used to.....no longer centre of attraction....

So, it is either they are leaving or left because of the above statement or they have outgrown the site, couldn't stand change or got bored. Anyhoe...if members leave or choose to be quiete is their rights to do so and we shouldn't be made to tiptoe around them, try to change things for them so that they can stay......we are all adults....this is not preschool....we are not here to brush other people's egos.

I have been ignored or told crap on this site before& read crap article and guess what, am still here. If I decide to leave, I will do so in peace without making other people feel bad...those that have left will come back if and when they want to. those that want to go...go in peace and silence!!!

Eish...duty calls!!

Toxic

Farai, don't personalise responses cause afterall you created the platform. It would have been very interesting to hear from the old bloggers who left WHY they left-not that THIS should then place us under any undue pressure to bring them back!

I asked someone on FB the other day why she's so scarce around these parts and she said most blogs had become centred around the "me, me, me" factor which i suppose means that she's not interested in reading personal diaries! Others have left because of job committments but the new people that have come on board have contributed to the lively community in their own ways.

I really think it's childish to leave and then blame your departure on personal issues you have with someone on this site! It is cyber-world afterall and who's to say these cyber-characters are REALLY who they are in real life. It's so so easy to become another person on line due to the anonmnity this place provides-well to an extent anyway.

I think if people want to read about TV-related stuff then they should take the initiative to post TV blogs. There are so many TV-related articles posted on this site on a daily basis and it's shocking how little replies they get compared to all the other perceived "nonsense" posted on the site.

I for one enjoy being here and it's a place i can write what i feel like writing when the inspiration hits me. No one wants to be forced to stick to one type of writing and no one can please everyone most certainly.

So if there is an old blogger that's turned SILENT, please let us know why this site lost its appeal for you.

@Mabhebheza - well said sanas

@Fara - why do some of the bloggers decide to liv TVSA? Who exactly are you referring to here? and if they are no longer blogging and you have contact with them aka network, why dont you take it upon yourself to find out why they have quit tvsa...and then cum back to us with a solution = saying because of XYZ....bloggers are leaving tvsa, and does a couple of ppl who no longer have an intrest have to worry us? um asking cos i just dont get it - if they want to steer back the ship to its original position they must come back and do just dat adawyz whos gonna do it for them, and I think that they have the authority to do just dat.

You see the thing is dat too much value is placed on individuals then team work, if xxxxx is not blogging then tvsa is doomed? What does that say to people who take their tym to make this site exciting? Oh I forgot, they are just faceless nobodies!!!!!!!!!!!

"im not selfish so thats why i dont have a solution......coz there is a lot of us here and this is not my website to decide...im just like everybody else mara there is somewhere i rule...just not here......yes im also very concerned aren't you?and why?"

@ Faraigmagic/Luvbug - No one said u are selfish, all I am saying is, as a blogger that has been here for quite some time when u were putting ur article together u should've asked yourself that we have been down this road b4 and no change took place after that. Still things remained the same, therefore u were "suppose" to be creative enough to say that u have to ensure that there is something different about ur article. And the thing is in life it is easier to provide questions (and yes I am talking in realtion to ur questions) and my concern is why did u not choose to also have a few solutions in ur article, since this isue has been bugging u *excuse the pun*????

And to answer ur question I'd like to echoe Mabhebheza words when she says stop mourning, coz no one has died right??? And yes there is change and if people feel they want TVSA to have more celeb & TV related blogs b4, then write a TV related blog and be proactive in the matter.

And people remember this is cyber world indeed, and I am sure we all have enough of our fair share of problems in our personal lives, hence the reason why I aslo don't enjoy TVSA polotics, anginazi aningazi and that's it.........I just wanna have fun here!!!

I just thought I'd copy paste the reply below coz I loved it, and remember this comes from a not-so-regular-blogger, and that is Molilo.

"If TVSA is no longer appealing to you as it was always encouraged the red/black X at the top of ur screen will be a solution for you. We cannot keep on asking ourselves where people go to. In life people outgrow things hence it is the same case here."

I think this thing is easi - if you want change = cum up with ways...Like the saying goes "Be the change you want to see in the world" in this case be the change you want to see in tvsa...meant  "make those changes"

Things change so do people.

My 2 cents:

THe only ppl who can answer this question luvbug is TASHI and LUKE...the creators opf TVSA, the rest of us will only state opinions on what we think it is and what we think must be happening.

My suggestion, PM Tashi/Luke and sak them to write a blog explaining the purpose of this site and if they think bloggers have taken it out of context.

I used to be a regular way back when Brown Shuga use to post blogs atleast every week. It was so fun but even then there was those regulars who will gang up on people make fun of them all that ish. to the point where Luke called everyone to order.

I don't mind the change i still log on once a while and lough my pants off  with all the new charecters and if i remember correctly Tashi and Luke won't hasitate to stop this blogging freely cos we were told quite frankley that it just a previledge and it can be taken away. so since the big bosses haven't called anyone to order i say go ahead guys have fun as long as you don't intimidate any one....

hawu bantu LM i really don't think some of the "popular" or "legends" of tvsa left because someone or other people stole their limelight! that would be rather childish methinks. i'm still in contact with alot of those who were popular and don't blog as much or not at all anymore and their reasons for leaving differ and have nothing to do with popularity or lackof thereof.

i don't blog as much as i used to simply because i have other commitments and when i do have the time sometimes i find what's being discussed does not appeal to me so i don't reply. simple

Farai, here's something from one of the oldies on reasons why they are so scarce:

Oldie: 1. cos they took off the blog on the main page. The navigation suck
Toxic: OKAY..so u didn;t leave cause of anything the bloggers said/wrote etc
Oldie: no
Toxic: k
Oldie: when I left the blogs were qute boring, and when I got back, I felt like an outsider
that's 2
Oldie: and they talk about sex a lot
Toxic: lol
Oldie: and they like celeb gossip, which doesn't really interest me - well... not THAT much anyway
Oldie: k, think that's enough reason

Toxic: what exactly interest you kanti?
Oldie: it does interest me, in very small doses

Citanul
02 Apr 2008 09:24

I'm not Tashi or Luke, so what I say may not be entirely accurate, but I'll address some of the comments made in the replies.

The aim of TVSA is to be a website catering for South African TV viewers.  That was the aim when the site started, and it remains the site's aim.  Anything related to TV in a South African context is open for discussion.

As the site grew, it became clear that many members were interested in discussing things other than TV, and so it was decided to expand the scope of the site and not just limit articles to TV-related ones.  That was the thinking behind the Gold status, which started off as subscription based, but for a number of reasons was extended to the entire TVSA membership free of charge.

One of the problems with allowing articles not related to TV is the danger of the non-TV content overwhelming the TV-related content.  In order to prevent this from happening, the blogs homepage was created and the blogs moved there.  It wasn't an attempt to discourage bloggers, just to ensure that the site's main  focus remained the most dominant one.

Regarding the lack of TV-related content, I'll just post what Toxic said:

>>I think if people want to read about TV-related stuff then they should take the initiative to post TV blogs.<<

TVSA is what you make of it, so if you want more TV articles then start writing, and the more TV articles people see, the more likely they are to start writing about TV as well.  I know it's frustrating to put a lot of work into an article only to have no one reply to it (I've been there myself), but if you don't write an article then no one can reply.

And if you feel that your writing skills aren't up to actually writing an article, then you're always welcome to post on the forum, even if it's just a short comment to get discussion started.  I know that for the most part it's a different group of people from those who hang out on the blogs but we are a friendly bunch, I promise you. ;-)

As for the issue of not getting on with other members, to some extent that's always going to happen - you don't necessarily get on with everyone you meet in real life, and the same applies to when you're online.  However, if it's more than just general disagreements and you have serious issues with someone else, let one of the mods know and we'll try and resolve it.  We don't want anyone to feel that another member has forced them to leave TVSA.

Now I have a better understanding what TVSA is all about

while I was a silent blogger I thought Brown Sugar was over exposing herself by taking pictures with celebrities, it became too much, it was more about her and her celeb lifestyle. when writing for masses sometimes it's better to minimise being part of the story too much and using I, me...unless sharing a personal story..
However BS writing is entertaining and she should bounce back..
