The latest on what the Idols hopefuls are to:
From the press release:The Top 3 Idols left in the competition face a tough schedule this week, with a full workload and three new songs to rehearse for Friday night’s Spectacular.
This week the Idols have to rehearse the song they’re due to perform at the 46664 concert on Saturday, “African Prayer”, written especially for 46664 by Bono and Dave Stewart.
On Tuesday they had an exciting morning at Egoli, filming a guest appearance. They are also special guests, along with the rest of the Top 10, at the glamorous premiere of the new movie The Golden Compass at Montecasino Thursday night. There are also their usual media appearances: on Kieno And The Angels at Jacaranda fm on Wednesday morning and on Gareth Cliff’s breakfast show on 5fm on Thursday morning.
In between they each have three songs to rehearse for the Top 3 Spectacular. Each Idol will sing a song chosen for them by the judges, another one chosen for them by the Idols producers, and an unplugged song of their own choice.
The song the judges chose for Jody is Luther Vandross’s last hit, “Dance With My Father”. The producers’ choice is “Ain’t No Other Man” by Christina Aguilera, and Jody’s choice of song to perform unplugged is “On The Wings of Love” by Clay Aiken.
For Munro, the judges’ choice is the Steppenwolf classic, “Born To Be Wild” and the producers chose the Plain White T’s current megahit, “Hey There Delilah”. Munro’s own unplugged choice is Eric Clapton’s “Tears In Heaven” – the song that put MTV’s “Unplugged” on the map.
The judges chose a Dixie Chicks song for Andriëtte: “Loving Arms”. The producers want her to sing Marc Cohn’s “Walking In Memphis” and Andriëtte chose the Eva Cassidy version of “Over The Rainbow” to sing unplugged.
Tickets for the Top 3 Spectacular on Friday, 30 November, are on sale now from Computicket at R60 for seats and R40 for standing tickets. The Spectaculars are recorded on Friday nights at the Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg.
