Here's the lowdown on what's happening on Idols this Sunday :
From the press release:This weekend the public voting finally starts on M-Net’s Idols Season Four. The Top 24 contestants have been divided into two groups - 11 guys and 12 girls - and this Sunday (16 September) the guys will compete for the first votes of the season. Next week (23 September) it’s the girls’ turn.
There were 12 guys but 23-year-old Richard Mtsweni from Centurion withdrew from the competition on Friday as a result of personal reasons - so 11 guys are getting ready to kick the competition into high gear on Sunday.
This is who'll be singing what:
Bjorn Blignaut (26) from Radiokop in Johannesburg sets the tone with the megahit “Wonderful World” from James Morrison;
Daniel Buys (22) from Bryanston in Johannesburg sets the girls’ hearts aflutter with John Mayer’s sexy “Your Body Is A Wonderland”;
20-year-old Dominic Momberg from Durban cuts “Footloose”, from the movie of the same name;
Young Jarred de Kock (18) from Bellville in the Cape takes a smooth approach with Michael Bublé’s cover of the sexy swing standard, “Sway”;
Lucky Linksteen (26) from Alberton also performs a Bublé song - the Canadian superstar’s swing version of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”;
George’s Munro du Toit (26) goes a completely different route and chose Rodriguez’s “Sugarman”, as covered recently by local band Just Jinger;
Peter Llewellyn Moss (30) from Port Elizabeth gives everything he’s got to Josh Groban’s big ballad, “Remember When It Rained”;
Peter Simeoni (20) from Durban puts his own spin on teen icon Jesse McCartney’s “Beautiful Soul”;
Richard Hala (29) from Wellington goes old school with the Eagles’ “Hotel California”;
The oldest contestant in the competition, 30-year-old Rob Warren from Durban, rocks the house with U2’s “One Life”;
And Sabelo Mthembu (24) from Johannesburg raises goosebumps with Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose”.
Voting opens immediately after the show on Sunday (16 September) and viewers can vote via landline, SMS, MXit or on the Idols website at
www.mnet.co.za. The voting lines will close just before the end of Monday (17 September) evening’s live Results Show.

PS: Wondering what Richard's "personal issues" were.
PPS: Crappest song on the list: Michael Booblé. It's beyond me why his cover versions are so revered.
